Below were the questions I asked, and the response:
I ordered the 2 pound bag of duck jerky through Amazon for the 2nd time. The first time it said \"made in USA\", however it does not now. I have some questions related to this product:
1) Where is the duck raised that is used for the jerky?
2) Where does the dehydration processing take place?
3) It says only one ingredient - \"duck breast filets\", with no preservatives or added coloring. Can you please confirm this is true?
The current stock we have is currently not from the US, it is from a different manufacturer. The duck is from China, but it is FDA tested and approved.
We unfortunately lost our old manufacturer. We are very close in getting a new manufacturer that makes the duck in USA. We know our customers would prefer that.
We apologize for this inconvenience.
Thank you for your business
One other thing worth mentioning, the duck jerky I previously bought from the pet store (made in China) had a lot of very hard, sharp ends. I always broke those off because I was worried my dog may choke on them since she eats them so fast. These don't have such pointy hard edges, so I have not had to trim off any sharp ends.
As another reviewer noted, other than a sticker saying made in the USA, there was no other indication of where this was made or even a full list of the ingredients. The jerky was very dry and brittle and the bag had no seal.
About a month after starting her on these treats our dog (8 1/2 year old shih tzu) became incredibly ill. She refused to eat, was vomiting, had diarrhea and lost about 4 lbs of body weight (her regular weight is 16-17 lbs and she was down to 13 lbs). After numerous visits to her regular vets and specialists, she was diagnosed with acquired Fanconi syndrome. Her symptoms and diagnosis fit those found in dogs that have been suspected of being ill from the Jerky treats.
The good news is our dog has recovered after months of supportive care including syringe feeding via a nasogastric tube.
We've reported this particular purchase to the FDA as well as provided them what we had remaining of the treats for testing.
We also had her eating the chicken strips from HDP and I will duplicate this review there as well.
They are, unfortunately, a bit pricey. But if your dogs have food allergies you've got to get some.

Pretty good quality, well cooked but about 15% crumbs and tiny pieces per bag! I bought two bags and they look like they've bounced around for awhile. Read morePublished 25 days ago by Michael P. Reid
