My personal experience is as follows: I've paired this unit with an HP Firebird 350W AC brick, and am running an i5 4690K OCemail@example.comGHz as well as a GTX970, overclocked as far is I could take it with +35mv to the core voltage. Measured wall power consumption averages at ~280W load, and peaks at ~330W at its maximum. It will run Prime95 and Furmark all day on this setup. Games run like butter and all thanks to a DC unit the size of my smartphone.
THERE IS ONE (potentially major) ISSUE. I've traced a rather loud coil whine to this HDPLEX unit when I push it above its rated power. I typically wear headphones when it's under load so this is not an issue for me, but may be for others. This noise scales noticeably as power consumption goes up, but since this use case is beyond what is advertised, I won't take a star.
it's extraordinarily well-made and the components are top-notch. it's not obvious in the photos, but the entire back side of the PCB is covered with a thick sheet of aluminum heat sink coupled to the PCB using heat tape between standoffs. the supplied cable set is also well-made. the cables are not sleeved or twisted but rather are left loose. the main motherboard cable seems excessively long, with the other cables in lengths more suited to small cases. even so, the loose cable is fairly easy to tuck out of the way.
no instructions are provided, but the board itself is well-labeled, so it is easy to figure out where to plug things in. it comes with 4 small black screws that fit into holes tapped into the bottom heatsink. there are also 4 mounting holes that go through the top of the circuit board and through corresponding (unthreaded) holes in the bottom heatsink. a 6-32 screw won't fit through these holes, so a thinner, longer screw is needed. mounting options depend on figuring out how to best use these holes in your case. at about 2" x 6" the module itself should be easy to position in just about any case.
I have paired this little beast with a 350 watt Voodoo power brick.Proven to work with a GTX970 , no issues at all!
HDPLEX sent me a pcie cable with 8 and 6+2 connectors. I needed just 6 and 6. They promptly acted on it and they're sending the appropriate cables.
How's that for customer service?!
This thing looks and feels solidly built..Thank you HDPLEX!
I'm modding an original Nintendo console enclosure/case and putting a mini-itx mobo in it. Space is extremely limited and after looking through several power supply types, this was the clear winner. It's small, it's fairly priced, built extremely well, and the power it provides is just right for it's size. Actually, power to size ratio, it's pretty impressive. Oh yeah, and it's completely silent (obviously). Can't go wrong with this. Comes with all power to mobo cables. I've paired mine with an original Dell PA-9E 240W Slim Design Replacement AC adapter Original Dell PA-9E 240W Slim Design Replacement AC adapter for Dell Notebook Model: Dell Precision M6500, Dell Precision M6600. Compatible Part Numbers: 0J211H, 0J938H, 0U896K, 0Y044M, 330-3514, 330-4128, 330-4342, ADP-240AB, ADP-240AB B, GA240PE1-00, J211H, J938H, PA9E, PA-9E, PA-9E Family, U896K, Y044M. and it works wonderfully for my application.

only con is the included cable quality. It doesn't match the quality of the board at all.Read more
