'Tiger Moody' is an amazing writer-- whoever he may actually be. Both his books are extraordinary adventures in adolescent lovable dysfunction. True enough to be a little sad but hilarious and unbelievably well-written enough to keep you reading straight through. I like to balance my sober nonfiction reading with doses of utter human unrepentant harmless rascality like this phenomenal literary blast of hyper fun. I don't mind a little 'sin' [ignorance] creeping in-- we're all guilty of that, but my biggest fear is the ever ubiquitous sanctimonious hypocrisy of those who know the 'one real Truth', and insist I must accept it, too-- to me, such sanctimony is the one true enemy of human goodness. So this book is a wonderful reminder of what is important and what is not.
This book won't be to everyone's taste. You have to be willing to admit how we humans really do function in our deepest darkest shadow side. If Beavis and Butthead were intelligent, this could be their Bible. Meanwhile, it's just some laugh out loud entertainment for those who can appreciate the genius of it.
Buy it. Enjoy it. And do not apologize.
I read this book very quickly, as I couldn't seem to put it down. I even missed my subway stop, more than once. I can't wait to read it again and again. The tempo is wonderful and works very well with the story.
Near the last chapters I couldn't help but smile as the pieces came together. The main character made me smile. I know this character. I know this kid.
