Eh, this book isn't worth the money in my opinion. There are typos and grammar mistakes, and there are content mistakes so bad that I can't figure out what the book is saying. I'm about to take my exit HESI and NCLEX, and I'm using this book + the Saunders review book and the "Illustrated Study Guide for NCLEX RN." This book is really very sparse in terms of content. It's only about 370 pages, has no CD with practice questions, and I'm finding a lot of discrepancies with content between this and my Black/Hawkes med surg textbook (which is also published by Elsevier). This is a good supplement text if you want to do a 15 minute review of a system with charts and very basic meds, but I'd never recommend it as the only thing to study from. There's just not enough in here and what is here has too many mistakes and typos.

Example of content mistake:
p. 106, the HESI hint box: "In mitral valve stenosis, blood is regurgitated back into the left atrium from the left ventricle..."
(That's not mitral valve stenosis. That's mitral valve regurgitation or insufficiency. Stenosis means the valve isn't opening all the way/is "stenosed" or partially closed, impeding the FORWARD flow of blood from the left atrium to the left ventricle. The fact that they use the word "regurgitation" is a clue...)

This review book is the best book to study for the Hesi exams as well as the NCLEX. It is all you'll need for the Hesi exams. There is no fluff, just pertinent information was well as highlighted boxes to alert you to areas the NCLEX has focused on in the past.

I learned about it after I had taken the first Hesi exam and wish I had known about it before I took the test. After that I used it to study for all the Hesi exams except the dosage calculation test. I scored nearly perfect scores on all the Hesi's and a perfect score on the Maternity/Pediatric exam.

It was one of three review books I relied on for the NCLEX preparation. My test cut off at 75 questions and I passed. It doesn't get better than that. The other book that was essential for NCLEX preparation is Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment: Practice Exercises for the NCLEX Examination, 2e by Linda A. LaCharity (Paperback - Jan 27, 2010) Many of the questions were about prioritizing, delegating and assigning.

I highly recommend this book. I bought the earlier edition of this book in my 2nd semester of nursing school and used it all through school. I took the HESI yesterday and passed first try with a 979, and i dont think i would have passed without this book.

To be honest, I scored higher on the HESI when I didn't study for it! This guide only has summaries of each condition that may be covered on the HESI. It does not have NCLEX style questions in the book (these are supplemented with an online website that you must log into/register first). I recommend that you save your money, study smart while in school, and don't read into the HESI questions too much when taking the HESI exam.

I was excited when the book was offered on Kindle so that I could use it right away and not wait for shipping. However, the Kindle edition does not include the online access code to be able to use the review tests that are found on Evolve's website. Go for the book. Hopefully Amazon can get this kind of thing worked out so college students who'd like the convenience (not to mention far less heavy option) of having a Kindle text book or review book can still access the other resources you're paying for when you buy books like this.

Now, otherwise this book is great. I love the way it lays out the information in an outline format so information is quick to review. And the online review tests will be very nice since it is put out by the HESI people.

Has good tips for the test, but has grammatical errors and is not comprehensive. The online content is helpful in the sense that questions/rationales are decent, BUT there were some questions where the answer was coded incorrectly (they marked my answer wrong, then the rationale supported my answer) or there were grammatical errors or poorly worded questions. The online tests are poorly programmed. You had to take all 100-150 questions in one sitting, or you'd lose your place and have to start from the beginning (questions you've already seen). The textbook supplements from my other mosby textbooks were much much better than this online content.
Overall, I still might buy it again, but only because for some reason nursing resources tend to all be of poor quality.

Was a required book for my nursing program. I used it to study for my HESI Fundamentals test I had recently. I wish that I had looked at the book sooner. It really breaks down the questions and helps you with critical thinking, which would've greatly helped me with my test scores if I had looked at it earlier. After looking at this book, I scored the highest exam grade out of all my exams and I passed the HESI Fundamentals test on the first try. Also includes extra resources on the Evolve website which includes extra practice tests!

Pros: This book gets the job done. It is very thorough so do not be deceived because it appears thin.Take your time pacing yourself while you review the content. It really helps to do the review questions after you have read the chapter to reinforce the information.

Cons: It offers no math help so it will not reinforce any medical calculation skills, if that may be one of weak points.
