Top customer reviews
--Capacity: These are the perfect sizes for everything from a handful of grapes to 5 pounds of potatoes.
--Durability: My previous colanders either broke (plastic), peeled and rusted (coated metal), or were horribly misshapen from regular use (metal mesh). The HIC ones are rockstars in the kitchen; constant use and they still look brand new.
--Easy to use/clean: the draining holes are medium-large for a colander (about the size of a large peppercorn), which means that small foods don't slip through and soft foods don't get stuck.
--Attractive: I never thought a colander could be sexy, but these things are really kind of beautiful.
--Smooth surface: Ever get cut on a colander? I have. It makes you appreciate well-crafted ones like these.
--Odd draining: there's a space between the holes on the side of the colander and the ones on the bottom, and I find that water sometimes pools there. If you give it a shake it's totally fine, but don't expect to leave the colander in the sink and come back to perfectly-drained food. Likewise, if you flip the colander upside down to dry after cleaning, water pools in the same spot on the opposite side. I usually wash my colander and flip it halfway through drying to get all the water off.
