Works exactly as it should. For those looking to share a USB device between two computers, this is not it. You need a USB switcher for that. This just takes the data and power from one USB port and adds the power from another USB port.

2 quick points for those wondering about the use of this cable:
1) This cable has only 1 data-transfer connector. The 2nd USB connector is for additional power ONLY. This cable is NOT used to split a data signal between 2 devices. Its purpose is to provide added power to a USB powered device.
2) This cable is a USB 2.0 version, which is compatible with both USB 2.0 & 3.0 devices, but data-transfer rates will be limited to USB 2.0 speeds. If you want USB 3.0 speeds, you may need to spend a bit more for a similar cable with a BLUE data connector (instead of both USB port connectors being WHITE).

My experience:
I needed more power for a 1TB external hard-drive than 1 USB port would provide on my old Dell computer (drive would frequently disconnect when in use). The drive is USB 3.0 (powered through its USB connection) but my computer has only USB 2.0 ports, so went with the cheaper 2.0 cable version since my computer ports limit me to USB 2.0 data-transfer speeds either way.

Ordered from the only domestic supplier I saw (SKY-LINE 'Best Seller') that didn't have the long international shipping wait time or the Amazon minimum order (or Prime) requirement for free shipping. For their $3 cable price (free standard shipping), they shipped in 1-2 business days and I received it via USPS in less than a week (sooner than expected). These adapters are NOT designed to split data between devices. It is designed to increase the current capacity for the device being plugged into it like a hard drive or USB hub. I use them on USB active extensions since I found out the hard way that they were unstable due to the lack of available current. Doubling up on the current solved all issues with the devices. Also if your trying to charge a tablet or smart phone from your computer you can cut the charge time in half by using one of these adapters.

This Y USB cable came from China and took over two weeks but slight earlier then a month as estimated on the delivery. The cable was made at a very poor conditions and sure there is no QA checking of the cable before mailing it out. The black plastic molding was very bad as it did not seal the whole connector so you can see the under connector's white color. The female USB port plastic molding was slightly off too. It was made very poorly but it seems to work. I only tested on my portable solar panel and not on any USB device like a portable CD-ROM. But paying only under $3 can be expecting too much from made in China.

Their was a slight communication issue but we got out issue fixed. The seller got me a replace which this one was perfect, thanks.

There is not much to review for this product. It is a USB Y adapter.

It is designed to give you more power to a device using two usb ports instead of one. This would be instead of you using a powered hub, etc.

Example - Portable hard drives or usb wifi devices which draw a lot of power.

Will not allow you to share a device between two computers.

Wish it was a heavy duty cable but it works. So no harm no foul.

Didn't work properly. Yes, I know what it's made for. I bought it to use a usb modem with a router, and supply extra power to the modem. The router would try to recognize the modem, but kept going in a loop (tried it both with and without the other end of the usb plugged into power). Tried it with my laptop and while it was recognized, it took a while longer than when I plugged the modem in directly (again, this was both with and without the other end of the cable plugged into a usb charger).

It works, but is annoyingly and unnecessarily inconvenient. The picture shows it with a much thinner and shorter wire for the extra power; and it shows that they two cables are marked differently, with the one being power only having some kind of red band around it. None of this is the case, both wires and plugs look absolutely identical. But of course they are not, only one can carry data, the other only carries additional power. So if you want the roles of the cables clarified, you have to try yourself first which is which, and mark it yourself; and almost ironically, you can't do that with the device (typically an external disk) that you bought it for since this wouldn't work with a single wire, you need some other lower-power USB tool. So for around 5 cents more, the manufacturer could have made this sinple device much more user friendly.

Exactly what you need for combining two female outlets to one male in put.

Please read all the reviews... this is NOT for data. Don't expect to use it as a splitter or a combiner of data flow.

This is a system to combine charging and power inputs.

I use it to combine two USB LED lights to a single power input... or to combine two power supplies to a single output.

So, for power combining/splitting, it is great.
