Running a 1920 X 1200 monitor from a MacBook Pro with 10.7.2 - so far no issues. As others have noted, go to the DisplayLink Website to get Lion drivers. Don't even fool with going to the HIS website, they are only licensees of DisplayLinks IP.

Good for apps w/ low refresh rates (Excel, Word, websites)

Bad for full screen video (Netflix).

If it keeps working as it does now, I'll be happy with my purchase.

I am using 3 of these with a 13 inch MacBook Pro on two 22 inch HannsG monitors and they work flawlessly. I have a 3rd HannsG 27 inch attached to MBP Thunderbolt and the whole set up works great. It does require drivers located at hisdigital website.

UPDATE: DO NOT BUY THIS FOR USE WITH MAVERICKS. IT DOES NOT WORK. I REPEAT: IT DOES NOT WORK. Mavericks has been out 110 days as of this writing and still no fix.

Works as expected. Added an additional screen in my "home office" to my Dell Latitude E6430 docked in a docking station making a Display Panel workstation.

5th star denied because very rarely(rarely means once every several weeks) the driver may experience a freeze up or black out which requires nothing more than a refresh from that screen or unplug / plug in from the usb port. this instability does not affect the rest of the system. I have recently done a driver update from the HIS website and have not experienced a problem...time will tell.

This application is for work and general productivity and has no issues streaming 1080P video, but would suspect that video intensive gaming would not be practical.

I really like it and have purchased a 2nd one to add a 3rd display at the office.

I bought this to get a 2nd monitor off of my MacBook while its docked, and the thing works pretty well, except that it lags like none other. Moving windows onto it takes forever and its hard to do because of the laggy, jumpiness of the thing. I say only use it for leaving a map or a guide to a game up on, or references to a paper that you are writing on the other screen. Forget watching any video on it. The one good thing about it is that it does do full HD for my display. I did try turning the resolution waaaaaay down (800x600) and it still performed no better. Another thing to be aware of is that the Mini USB cable that it comes with is a piece of junk. I luckily had one laying around. Overall, the thing works, but if you need a fully functional display, look at a better card or a different computer.

I was searching for a device that I could hook up a third monitor to my macbook pro and I found this but everywhere I searched online, there weren't any actual reviews. I was having a hard time finding a usb to dvi convertor that had non-beta drivers for mac, this was one of the few.

I received this from Amazon within days of ordering and it is tiny! Its about the size of a deck of cards. You install the drivers on the mac, reboot, then waallla, instant screen! I didn't use on DVI, but with the rgb cable it looked pretty good. There picture wasn't as crisp as I expected, but then again its most likely because of the RGB cable.

If your on a mac and searching for an usb external monitor solution, this is it! It works, simple to setup and is very compact to bring along with you.

I have the intel core i7 2.88ghz macbook pro running OSX 10.6.6.

It works, but sometimes the picture cuts out if the computer was a sleep for a while. Since it is the third monitor for my laptop setup, I can easily unplug the USB cable from the side of my laptop and plug it right back in and it comes back to live. I will say that I don't know if it is the device itself or the USB hub that it is connected to. However, it isn't really a big annoyance for me and it doesn't happen regularly (I've been using it consistently for several months now).

I have it connected to a MacBook Pro, running 10.8.2. It is connected to a 20" inch Apple Cinema Display (the older matte kind that they no longer sell) and an identical Cinema Display is connected to it via DVI to MiniDisplay Port. I can see no color difference between the two (though the MiniDisplay port obviously refreshes much faster). I typically just use this monitor for text and additional panels and such. Videos work on it, but I wouldn't want to watch it for long (it might be fine for some YouTube videos).

Note: If some people were complaining about the device causing Mac OS to crash after waking from sleep, that only happened with one version of Mac OS (10.8.0) but was quickly updated by Apple. It had to do with Apple's new "PowerNap" feature and it was fixed on the next update. I've had no problems since then.

MAC LION 10.7.2: It sorta works, but... 1) When you wake the Mac, it sometimes (rarely) does not go on and everything that WAS displayed on it goes to another display. A minor inconvenience. To get it to reactivate, it USUALLY works to just unplug and replug the USB cable to the HIS unit, although--rarer still--sometimes a reboot is necessary. 2) Speaking of rebooting, I just updated to LION 10.7.4 and freaked out when it auto rebooted after the installation and my Mac was in a coma with a blank, white screen. I tried shutting down, zapping the PRAM, etc. Finally I just waited, and after almost 10 minutes it started up again. What the heck was it doing for 10 minutes? Waiting for Godot? Later, I deinstalled the driver (which the manufacturer says is only good to OS 10.6) and the system rebooted (WITHOUT the extra display) in only 2-3 minutes. Problem solved. Fortunately, I rarely reboot, but at least now I know my Mac isn't dead after reboot. I tweeted the manufacturer (in China, with no email address), hoping for an answer--AND an update to their driver. In the meantime, I might search for a replacement.

Good luck!
