I installed this on a P4 3ghz machine, with 2.5 gigs of ram, to upgrade from the Radeon 9800 128mb card I had, works really well powering a 1920x1080 23inch wide screen monitor. The couple games I have I got to turn the settings up and the graphics look great in WinXP and Ubuntu 9.10, it made Alien Arena run way faster than I'm used to.

AGP card went in great. video drivers and software app. loaded nice. great graphics.
This is a game card and also has audio that goes with it. Had to manually install a
compatible audio/sound/game driver from windows XP driver data base to get the "found new hardware" popup from comming up each time of reboot.

My PC is 5 years old. Its a P4 2.8 Ghz Single core running Win XP. My previous card I replaced was an ATI X1650. Monitor is an HDMI HP 2207 widescreen. When I play games like Fallout 3 or Crysis I couldnt enjoy the games (low frame rates and very choppy play at low specs). Now with this card I am able to play those games with my settings cranked up and no choppy frame rates. This card actually gave my pc new life which i didnt think possible, I recommend it to anyone with simular PC specs that dont have the means to go out and buy a new PC. I did have to update my monitor drivers and download the latest from this cards web site, after that my system is satisfactory. I gave this card a 5 star because of the boost in proformance in my gaming experience.

This card helped me achieve my goal of running my computer display out to my 37" TV. I like the on board HDMI which mated right up to the TV and is giving good, totally digital, AV. You need to have at least a 450 Watt power supply to support the card. The box I have it in is a little old and doesn't have a pci express slot, which is what most of the new vid cards are. Be careful with the driver install; all boxes are different; I had to go through the setup a few times and do some research; in my case I found that NOT using the catalyst drivers was the best config for me. All-in-all not a bad card for older computers & the money.

This card might keep your AGP running but don't expect to play.
No COD4, Ghost Advanced 2, Splinter Cell DA, ect. downright unplayable.

Fan died and card burnt in 6 months, nice. Replaced with ice4670, the ice is just as bad, horrible, choppy, freezing display.

Card was outperformed by my tweaked x1950, absolutely no comparison to the HD3850, it runs about like a early x800. Pretty lame these days.

HD650watt, 50A single rail. P4 Hyper-Threader 3.06G, 2048 mem. 18 process at idle, game machine from birth.

Avoid this card, its now famous for failing quickly.

I installed this on a 3.0 GHZ pentium 4 with hyperthreading that got a futuremark 3.62 score of 11,450 with an old NVIDIA 6800 GT with 256MB memory. The motherboard only recognizes up to 256 MB for video cards. However, I installed the HD 4650 card that has 1GB of memory with drivers installed first. It works great and the computer now gets a futuremark 3.62 score of 18,700! The computer is revitalized and can handle Bioshock, L4D 1 and 2, Timeshift, etc. with speed and no slow ups. Unbelievable!

Great product.

I had an older card with 512 mb of memory and never really had a problem with it other than it running pretty hot all the time. Well the fan on it finally died (five years old and I never shut down the system it was in, pretty good IMHO) and was looking for another Nvidia card because that's mostly what I've used over the years. Given that my older system has only PCI and AGP, I had a limited selection. My daughter has used Radeon a lot and said to go ahead and try their cards if there was an AGP card I liked. So, I settled on this card because it was a step up from what I had and it was about the only 1 gb card I found that had both a reasonable price and worked in an AGP slot. Well, I'm really happy with it. I can tell it's a good bit faster and it's very smooth at 1920x1080 which is the resolution I always use. I have it hooked to a 120mhz LED and it's very smooth when playing DVDs whether from disk or from the drive. It also runs a great deal cooler than anything I've had in a good while. I like the HDMI sound on the card as well although don't doubt sound only cards are probably superior in some ways. It handles 5.1 Surround just fine on all the DVD movies I play through this machine without a hitch as well as all music files without any glaring faults. All in all I don't think you can get a better deal to keep an older AGP slot machine working a bit longer.

I recently did a routine reformat of my old HP Pavilion 750n, which I do about once a year, and decided it was time to do some upgrades. I upgraded from 512MB to 2GB RAM and purchased this Radeon card to replace my Nvidia GeForce FX5500 whose fan was starting to go bad. Obviously the RAM upgrade itself made a difference, but even with more computer RAM the Nvidia card didn't perform that much better. Once I installed the Radeon 4650 I saw an immediate difference, no lagging while watching DVD's. And with the Radeon having it's own 1GB RAM it really freed up the rest of my computer so that I could keep other large programs open in the background without it slowing down my computer. I was a little weary about installing this in my almost 10 year old computer, as I read reviews where people had issues installing the drivers from other Radeon cards, but I had no problems with my install, I followed the directions by removing my Nvidia drivers, installed the card, put in the CD and the computer did the rest. Very easy install. So far this card works great. If you have an AGP video card slot and are looking to upgrade, this card is the way to go. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
