Unlike the cheap remotes you see floating everywhere or ones built into selfie sticks, this allows for single shot AND continuous pictures. In other words, push the button and take a normal pic or hold the button and it will support multiple pictures. Certain apps also support this functionality; for example, in Snapchat if you push the button it will take a normal pic. If you hold the button it will record video while you have the button depressed.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again since at some point, I'll surely lose it. It's small and the attached dongle plugs into the headphone port, so if you frequently use headphones, you'll be taking it off a lot and there's the potential to misplace it easily.
Another plus to this remote is that it does not have a rechargeable battery. For small devices like this, I prefer not having to carry another charger or more importantly remember to keep it charged. So much easier to replace after 6 mths or so when it finally goes out. This is also the only remote I've seen sold at the Apple store (for full retail price).
