I had been using my son in laws tester, so I had something to compare to. The numbers were spot on, easy to read and quick.
Of course time will tell how long it works, but so far I am very satisfied with this purchase.
I am not satisfied as it does not seem to be as reliable as I would expect from a digital pH meter.
There are basically two problems that I have encountered in the couple of weeks I've been using it.
First, the temperature probe is very slow to respond. For example, when I put it inside my aquarium, the temperature indication continues to change for couple of minutes without stabilizing. In most cases, the unit goes to sleep before it is able to show the correct temperature (if I turn it on again and leave it for a longer time, the temperature continues to change before it stabilizes). I have used it in parallel with the HM Digital AP-2 (EC meter from HM) and there is a very obvious difference. The AP-2 reaches the final temperature reading in less then a minute, while the ph meter would still be off by a more than a degree. Since pH determination requires temperature correction, if you just take a reading for a few seconds, the pH readings would not be reliable as the temperature reading would be off.
Second, it needs to be calibrated every time, otherwise it does not show the correct reading.
A digital pH meter supposed to allow for a quick and accurate pH reading and this units does not seem to provide this.
Electrical tape around cap will slow evaporation, The sensor can't dry out
Working after 6 months
UPDATE well I change my mine on reliability, i bought 2 of them first brooke after 9 months second one after 3 months of proper use let me add!
Eco tester ph2 a little bit more expensive like 20$ bucks more, dont have a thermometer but more reliable and over all better quality
