I started wearing Stinson's in 2011. I've run 2 Ironman World Championships in them, several 1/2 distance Ironman races, multiple half marathons. they WERE great. And they eliminated my shin splints right off the bat. Best shoe ever. Then version 3.0 came along which I couldn't even wear. So i was both delighted and a bit reluctant to buy them.
They fit. and if you have a a D size foot, they don't crowd your feet in the toe box unlike version 3.0
They're much stiffer than the Stinson EVO's and the Stinson Lite's particularly in the mid foot. They hardly feel like the same shoe.
Shin Splints are back due to the stiffness. For me that's the deal breaker.
I'm back to running in On Running's shoes and a pair of Sketchers. No shin splints. I'll try these again in version 5 if I hear the mid-sole area is no longer stiff and unforgiving.
