I have had one of these pumps for 14 years in our basement where we used to have major flooding problems.

Over the years we tried all sorts of pumps of various descriptions and none of them could keep up with the inflow and none were reliable over time.

This pump solved our flooding problem by being able to keep up with the very large water volume flowing in primarily during the winter and spring. As another poster said, the pump turns on for 30 to 45 seconds then off for a minute or two while the sump refills. This goes on over and over again FOR MONTHS without any problems.

This Fall the pump finally stopped working. No Problem! I called the manufacture. No runaround, no B.S., they just sent me a new pump & They Paid The Freight! ! ! I did NOT need an original sales receipt. All I had to do was to remove the original sticker from the pump. To speed it up they had me fax it to them so they could send it out immediately. I then followed up by mailing the sticker to them.

Their warranty is part of the original purchase price of the pump. It's not one of those "add on" warranties that last for only a few years. One other thing to note, this pump contains it's own check valve. No add-on check valve is necessary.

The pump is "Top Shelf" and the warranty is even better. I can safely say this pump is one of the best values ever. Worth every penny and then some.

We have had ground water problems and flooding a few times until installing a french drain. Before we got the flotec we temporarily used a little giant 505300. It couldn't keep up so we had to drop in another one. When the french drain system was installed and we did final plumbing we installed the contractor put in the Flotec 7000. We have had it since August 2005 (6 years now) with no problems. During some of our heaviest melting times it would turn on for 20-30 seconds every 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. It could run like that for a couple of months at a time. It doesn't always run that often but it often has to turn on frequently for a couple of months at a time. It hasn't failed us once. It usually starts running anytime in February until August or Semptember in the worst years.

We have had water damage enough times that we get sick thinking about it, so usually before the water table is high we will check on it. We will fill the collection tank with water and make sure the float isn't catching on something and make sure that it will turn on and off as we move the float up and down. We've never had any trouble so far. I figure it's mechanical an something is bound to fail someday which is a concern but right now our biggest concern for failure is a power outtage, not the pump failing.

Bought one in '09 with the "lifetime warranty". It failed a year later. The replacement lasted only two years. I called to get a replacement for that one and was informed that the "Lifetime Warranty" applied only to the original, not the replacement.
Product is a piece of junk and customer service is lacking. Avoid this company!

The Flotec Floodmate7000 FP0S6000A started out nice. It is quiet, quick, and easy to install in the sump pump pit. The switch floats freely (not just up and down on a fixed pole). The switch went out after 1 year, and the replacement switch went out after another year. We had to have 2 switches replaced on this sump pump within 2 years. The Wayne and Rigid sump pumps with the non-free floating switch (the switch that just moves up and down on a fixed pole) work much, much better. Our Wayne is over 10 years old and had to bail out the aforementioned Flotec. As the Wayne is aging, we sought a new sump pump because we cannot afford to have the Wayne or Flotec go out. So we bought a Rigid SSP1000, 1HP, with the switch inside the canister of the unit (in other words, the switch is not external) and have been VERY pleased. So, we are trading quiet operation for better, reliable performance. Not to mention, the Wayne and Rigid pumps we have are cast iron and steel, unlike the Flotec Floodmate7000 which is plastic (composite).

I have owned several of these pumps. When they work they are very nice. The problem is they don't generally work for very long. I have had the switches fail and the pump itself fail. Most recently, I bought a pump in February 2013. The pump has run a few times and today it failed. I don't recommend these pumps. They have a lifetime guarantee (only if purchased through a qualified supplier) and that doesn't matter if your basement floods while you are getting a replacement.
