Upgrade your sleep experience with a zippered mattress encasement – part of the Sleep Defense System by Hospitology.
Shield your mattress from spills, bed-wetting, bed bugs, dust mites and allergens with this mattress encasement, designed to protect all six sides of your mattress. Bed bugs are infesting homes and apartments at an alarming rate and mattress encasements are an effective defense. Our waterproof mattress encasements help ease asthma and other respiratory symptoms by preventing allergens, dust mites and bacteria from reaching you while you rest.
This standard encasement will accommodate a mattress height of 12"-18". It is fully zippered on three sides and features Allergy Blocker to prevent allergens from exiting through the zipper. Bug Flap and Zipper Lock ensure that your mattress encasement remains bed bug proof for the life of your mattress.
The extra-soft polyester knit fabric covers a breathable waterproof membrane that won’t trap heat while you’re sleeping. The encasements contain no vinyl, PVC or phthalates, or fire-retardant coatings of any kind.
This Queen size mattress encasement measures 60” wide x 80” long and fits standard queen beds.
Please note: This mattress encasement is meant to handle only small amounts of liquid that are addressed immediately. Larger amounts of liquid, and liquid that is allowed to sit for more than a few hours, may eventually seep through in the form of liquid vapor. Liquids with strong odors may transfer odor to your mattress.
Care Instructions: This mattress encasement is machine washable. Tumble dry low or no heat. Please follow all included care instructions.

Studies show that quality, uninterrupted sleep can decrease rates of disease, reduce body fat, help you function better at work, and make you more productive in general.
At Hospitology, our goal is to combine quality fabrics and unique designs with our knowledge of sleep science to create outstanding bedding that will help you sleep comfortably and soundly every night.
The Science of Sleep ...
Using technical and hypoallergenic fabrics, Mattress Encasements by Hospitology promote healthful sleep with a comfortable and quality design.
Our Sleep Defense System
The Sleep Defense System by Hospitology brings hotel and healthcare level bedding protection to your home. Featuring extra-tough seam construction, high thread-count polyester knit fabric and a full 1ml thick polyurethane waterproof layer, this mattress cover uses ultra-plush knit fabric that is soft to the touch. The material is fully breathable, does not trap heat and is cool to sleep on.
Protect Against Allergens
Hospitology designs and manufactures sleep products to improve the quality of your sleep experience through science. We use high-tech fabrics and knowledge of sleep medicine to create products meant to promote better sleep. Even those without traditional allergies can be affected by mild allergen contact in the form of dust, mites and organic fibers. This disrupts respiratory function during sleep, leading to frequent departures from "deep sleep" to less-restful "light sleep" as your body struggles to maintain a regular flow of breathing. Cover your mattress with this waterproof, bed bug proof and dust mite proof mattress encasement and keep all of these dangers from reaching you while you sleep.

I know this is long, but I think its worth the read.
So I started on Amazon, I typed in "bedbug mattress covers", & started looking at the options.. I read a lot of reviews, on many products, but they all pretty much had the same thing: some good reviews, (people who seemed to know how to put a cover on & usually didn't have bedbugs), & some bad reviews (people who put it on wrong or didn't treat bedbugs with anything other than covers, which you can't do). The other reviews were almost all about whether the different mattress covers are waterproof. Since I was battling a bedbug issue I didnt care if they were waterproof, but I had caught it early enough so we really needed covers asap to keep the infestation from spreading & to help with isolation of the problem to make it easier to eliminate them completely. Anyways, I looked at about 24 different covers, looked at pictures, read the information about them from companies, & looked at the reviews the most.. None of them were enough to sway me one way or the other.
When I came across the Hospitality ones, I almost didn't stop, since the prices are very reasonable. My man said just check them out since he was irritated that I wouldn't just pick one, so I checked them out, read reviews & zoomed in on pictures of the product. As I read the description, I noticed they said "lab tested", so I checked out the lab too, which was legit. So I ordered 2 right away, one for my futon & one for my daughter's twin bed.
When they came, they were very soft & the zipper was tiny, that's a good thing because then the tiniest of bedbugs can't get through it. If you don't do research on bedbugs, you won't be able to eliminate them. Plus the eggs & babie are seriously almost completely clear until they feed & grow, & are as small as a grain of salt, so they're very hard to see. Well anyways, like I said the covers were super soft, so that's great. They keep out the bugs. The covers went on super easily. My husband & I put the futon cover on in a matter of 4 mins, together, we didn't even have to lift it up much, just lifted as we slipped it on. It was super easy. My daughters I was able to put on by myself, she has 2 older twin size thin matresses & a foam topper abt 1 inch thick. I was able to fit all 3 of those in the twin size cover I got for her, by myself. Along with these covers, I used all natural spray from Home Depot, & a huge bag of diatomaceous earth. We haven't had any problems since. And although these are not really waterproof, they are very easy to clean with a wet wash cloth and some 409(had to do that 2 days ago when my dog threw up on it), but you could even just use a disinfectant wipe too. They are machine wash or as well, but with bedbugs, its best you leave covers on for at least 12-16 months since they can live for a long time without food. I HOPE THIS ALL HELPED & GOOD LUCK. :)
I went to change my sheets today after a cup of coffee was spilled on the bed. It was not big spill.
But it landed directly on the seam at the top / head of bed.
I was able to clean up the actual stain off of the mattress cover with Lysol with bleach spray. No problems there. But where it leaked through was directly at the seams.
As you can see from my mattress. It seems the mattress took the brunt of this spill after it went through the seams.
As long as you don’t spill anything anywhere near this seems you are OK. But that makes me a little worried though ..
If that much liquid is able to get through something that is waterproof – not water resistant – will eggs from bedbugs get through this seam?
Two important notes:
First, it's important to follow the instructions carefully. Failure to do so means that bugs could still get in.
Second, the encasements only prevent bugs from nesting inside the mattress (where it is very hard to get at them). For the reviewers who found bed-bugs on the outside of their encasement -- that means that the bugs were nesting somewhere else (too).
We had some bugs hitchhike back to our house from a trip, but the encasements not only protected our mattresses but also made it easier to see where the bugs were and treat them. They couldn't get into the mattress so they tried to cling to the outside of the encasement, but we could then vacuum them up and treat the surrounding area with EcoRaider Bed Bug Killer Spray 16 Oz, Green + Non-toxic, 100% Kill + Extended Protection (Pricey, but it doesn't aggravate our allergies and has a far more pleasant scent)

It does affect the softness and the cooling feature of the bed though; has a slight plastic texture feel instead of the bed’s Tencel feel which defeats the purpose of buying a good quality bed. But with Tencel bedsheets it helps a little in making the bed comfortable again.
Did not try to see if it’s waterproof yet.
There’s a small stain when received.
