HOUND OF THE ULAID - The First Deeds of Cuchulain Paperback – June 7, 2013
Purchase options and add-ons
This is the story of the boyhood deeds of Cuchulain, Ireland's original superhero.
Follow the death-defying adventures of the boy hero at the warrior school of King Conchobar.
Will he survive his first test?
The original rendition, part of the "Ulster Cycle" of Irish mythology, was discovered within the 12th Century manuscript: "The Book of the Dun Cow", which now survives in the Royal Irish Academy, Dublin.
The tale itself is believed to pre-date its first written recording by over a thousand years; spread in those days by spoken tradition through generations stretching back to the time of the Iron Age inhabitants of Ireland.
This modern retelling of Cuchulain's boyhood deeds is adapted and embellished, aiming to be the perfect bedtime story for adventure-loving boys and girls age 7 and up, whilst remaining true to the colourful and somewhat grisly original. (Advisory: contains fantasy violence)
