Moved to a dual monitor system and I wanted monitors with an IPS panel display (best for photo editing). I was a tad sceptical because of the relatively low price, but higher end IPS monitors can run $500+ each. Since I was buying 2, I thought I would try the HP 2311xi, and it turns out that I made a good decision. This is a great monitor!

Calibrated both monitors (critical for photo editing to make sure what you see on the screen matches your prints), and it has improved my workflow and output significantly. If you don't know IPS vs TN, you probably won't appreciate what a great value this monitor is. Strongly suggest that anyone buying an IPS panel display for photo editing buy with confidence. I have a good camera, a good photo printer, and I use Lightroom and Photoshop. This monitor (actually monitors) fits nicely into my prosumer setup (do it for fun, not money. but I'm serious about it).

Color and contrast are excellent. Just be aware before you buy that there is no height adjustment. Also, if you calibrate your monitor (again, which I recommend you do for all monitors), be aware that it may appear dark at first. This is because almost all monitors have their brightness turned way up out of the box, so that is probably what you are used to seeing. If you're not doing photo editing, and a brighter display looks better to you, then I see no reason why you can't just leave the brightness the way it is (or adjusted to what looks good to you on the screen). It will be fine. Just know that this monitor calibrates nicely for photo editing. If you're a photographer, you know exactly what I am talking about. If you're not, then it really doesn't matter.

A 23" IPS panel display at this price? Go for it. You won't be disappointed.

I use it for gaming and hd viewing to basic Internet surfing, note.... I bought the dell ultra-sharp version for like $ 700 plus dollars it was very good BUT it did not have a matted screen, this monitor has a matted screen and works in very bright rooms and does not reflect light. This one to ME is better than the dell high end monitor that I returned. this one was less $200, a way better value. the gaming is awesome and everything.......It has hdmi, dvi VGA plenty which is plenty of inputs. great gaming, Internet monitor........ thankx

The monitor is vivid and sharp and the colors pop out. The only thing I can say I've had troubles with, would be with the fact that on some on occasions when I turn the computer on the monitor goes into vga mode rather than hdmi, causing the image to be distorted but after readjusting the monitor settings everything is good.

I have two of these now, will get a third soon. My office can get a lot of sunlight during the day, even so the contrast on these monitors keeps image quality superb. I do graphics work & design, and play video games :) IMHO performance has been perfect for me, especially considering they weren't overpriced one bit. Thanks HP :)

I've had this monitor for over a year now and it is great! It is very large, which offers a nice amount of space to do things for multitasking. I use this monitor with my custom Built PC for anything from browsing the web to production tasks to gaming. It serves my purposes very well and I have not had any issues with it whatsoever. The only thing that I can think of that would make this monitor perfect is if it could display 3D content like movies and games in 3D. Otherwise, this is a fantastic monitor and I would highly recommend it.

++Pros++

+ Large Screen
+ Bright Backlighting (Adjustable)
+ Matte Finish (No glare)
+ Low Power Consumption (LED = Low Wattage)
+ Lightweight (Compared to older monitors)
+ Fairly Quick Response Time

--Cons--

- Cost (Around $250+)
- No 3D (Cannot display 3D content like in some movies or games)

I hope that this review was helpful to those who are looking at buying this monitor. It really is the perfect size in terms of the space that it gives you to do things. I don't know what I would do without this larger monitor... :P

This is a very good monitor that is LED backlit. I use 3 of them on one computer using Eyefinity Multi-Display and it is great. Most of the time I have all three monitors on when I work and it is nice to spread your open programs around to view several tasks at once. I am using 1920 X 1080 resolution. The contrast ratio is very good at 3,000,000 to 1.

The images are crisp and clear and the response time is 7 milliseconds. The 23 inch diagonal screen size is great because I can expand the viewing size of software apps and reduce eye strain. It comes with a power supply cable, VGA cable and DVI-D cable so you have all you need including a cable management clip and a CD with instructions to set it up. I have used them for 30 months with no issues.
