This all-in-one is a peach!

The print results are publisher quality.

The only criticism is that it is quite slow; that is OK for home, but maybe not so good for a business.

Airprint and wireless is simple and intuitive.

Controls are logical and intuitive, setup was easy.

Added 5/2014: Now owned it 5 months. This is the best printer I have ever owned. I just now had to replace the black toner.
The print quality is the best from any printer I have owned.

Don't waste your time with the M177FW. Never worked, brand new, right out of the box. The main problem with this printer is that the toner cartridges are contained in a round "carousel" (rather than a tray) that is supposed to rotate to the appropriate color cartridge. While the concept is an interesting one (smaller footprint, for instance), it's just one more point of potential mechanical failure. In this case, the failure happened during initialization, before the printer could ever print, because the carousel couldn't complete a rotation. Reading other reviews for this printer reveal that this rotating carousel is probably behind similar complaints, and those that say the printer is exceptionally noisy, or that color prints are slow. In addition, the plastic case is flimsy and thin, so much so that the various doors actually flex when opening them. Also, the scanner hinge doesn't elevate to accommodate thick originals, such as books. All 'round cheesy.

Kudos to Amazon for an easy return. I packed it back up, and UPS picked it up. Didn't even have to print out a return label, although I could have plugged my 15+ year old LaserJet 5MP back in. It still works fine mechanically, but it often can't handle current printing protocols (most notably PDF files, etc).

Next choice was the HP LaserJet Pro 200 (M276nw). What a delight! Toner cartridges are in a tray (no carousel), and the plastic case is far more sturdy. What's really amazing is that the price is essentially the same as the M177fw, which I had chosen for the smaller footprint. Don't waste your time, go straight for the M276nw!

After my 20+ year old Laser Jet 4 finally gave up its ghost, I decided to stick with HP for a new one. I received the printer today and had no trouble setting it up although it did take a couple of hours (partly because I have a slow computer) but set up was easy using the included installation CD. This printer prints well, copies well and scans well (I will not be using the fax). One thing to know, when you first set it up the set up instructions have you test the functioning by printing an internal report and then have you copy and scan it. The reported printed well but when I copied and scanned it, the quality of the copies were terrible. Fortunately, when I tested the copying and scanning using other documents, things were just fine. Copies are high quality but colors might be slightly off. However, they are better than many office copiers that I have used. I have not yet tried to print photo quality yet. It is a bit noisy though. Lots of clunking noises when it prints. So far, this printer seems to be a great machine for the price. Hopefully, I am set for the next 20 years.

I'm an optimist. I've been an HP loyalist for years, so I was willing to buy a machine with mediocre reviews. But I now hate HP with every bone in my body and I can no longer recommend them to anyone. I make a point of telling friends and family about my HORRIFIC experience purchasing this machine, and I now preach the name of other companies (Brother, Epson, Canon). I owned a Brother. I miss it, and I regret this purchase wholeheartedly.

I bought this machine because I wanted a wireless, color, laser multifunction printer with a document feeder and a small footprint. The choice was between this machine and the Dell equivalent. The Brother machine is enormous, but given my excellent experience with Brother printers in the past, I'd wanted it... I just didn't have the room for it. This HP was $200. Despite negative reviews, I took a chance. I WAS WRONG. Do not make the same mistake!

When I received my FIRST HP M177FW (yes, I've now had two, and am soon to await a third), it was defective. Wouldn't scan. Made a horrific noise. Needed to be returned, after two lengthy, hour-long phone calls to HP support. It's a known defect of the machine, and still they made me jump through all the hoops while talking to the incompetent support people to whom they've outsourced. After a long and exhausting support experience, I received a replacement in the mail and sent the original machine back. Their incompetent support claimed I never returned it and tried to charge me $325 for the broken unit. I'm still in a war with them through my credit card company. I finally filed a dispute with my credit card, after fighting on the phone for HOURS.

Now, just a few months after purchase, my document feeder has gone kaput. I cannot bring myself to call them again.

I have owned at least 10 HP printers for home and office. This is a lemon, and HP tech support has been terrible. The printer simply stopped working within 45 days. The front display would not advance past "initializing". Clearly, there was a problem with setting the cartridges. After nearly two hours on the phone, HP decided it was a hardware problem, and agreed to ship a refurbished unit to replace the printer that I bought brand new. When it arrived, I learned that it was shipped without ink cartridges, with the expectation that I would use the cartridges in the broken printer. Naturally, the same problem that prevented the printer from initializing prevented rotation of the cartridges for removal. That meant another 45 minutes on the phone with HP's version of Captain Obvious who told me that because of the problem, new cartridges should have been shipped. As of this writing, I am still waiting for these cartridges for my refurbished machine to replace the new machine that I bought through Amazon.
