    It prints beautifully... to be so inexpensive it works wonderfully. i use to print several flyers at least 50 by now and im still using the same ink that came with it!!!! i highly recommend to anyone!!!

      I recently ordered this printer for my laptop. Since most of the real important things that I print are performed by my desk top with the much better printer, I set out to get something cheap, and, that would simply just do the job for quick printing needs. I am happy to say that my experiences so far with this little printer have been a true success. It was very easy to install. You unwrap the printing cartridges and install them, plug it in, and then run the software which takes about 5 minutes or so before prompting you to plug the connecting cord from the printer to the computer into the USB port. (And NO, aggravatingly a USB power cord does not come with it. Either order it along with your printer here on Amazon, or pick one up locally). That's it. I went from plugging it in to printing something to test it out in less than 12 minutes. There was no cartridge alignments to make or any other adjustments, it just worked fine from the start. And so far the printing quality has been nothing less than excellent. Though some other reviewers have referred to this printer as slow, I feel that it prints quickly and clearly enough, and that the subject of speed is dependent on what one is used too with their experiences with other printers. Personally my opinion is that it prints in a very timely manner.

      In conclusion, I realize that this printer is very cheap price wise, and, that some other reviewers here have mentioned it dying or having problems after a short time. So far mine is performing flawlessly, and if that changes over what I feel is an unreasonable amount of time, I will certainly update this review. As for now, I give this Deskjet 1000 5 stars for performance, and value... : )

      This is a good printer for someone like me: someone who doesn't print often, but needs an inexpensive, reliable printer next to my computer for those few times when I do need to print. I bought this printer about 3 weeks ago on Amazon, it was delivered fast and well-packaged (as is usual for Amazon). I have printed about 15-20 pages since I've had it, all black and white. The image quality is good for my purposes.

      I did initially have a problem with the set-up, but determined that the problem was a bad printer cable. This printer doesn't come with one: if you have one you know works, you'll probably be fine. I bought a cheap one from Amazon, which was faulty, but I returned it to the seller and got a full refund. A new (much more expensive) printer cable from Radio Shack solved the problem immediately.

      To address some issues I've read about in other reviews: I've never heard my printer "self-clean" in the middle of the night or anytime for that matter. Mine has a "stand-by mode" that it goes to after about 5 minutes, and then shuts all the way off after an hour or two. I have to physically turn it back on if I want to print something (which is fine by me... as I said I don't print often). I just checked the ink levels and the reviews are right: Ink is used pretty quickly. I show about 10-15% used from the original black ink cartridge, but the color cartridge is 100% full. I have purchased a high capacity black ink cartridge from Amazon, it was about $25 (which is almost as much as this printer cost). I expect I'll get about 100 pages with the printer cartridge that came with the printer and hopefully 200-300 with the higher capacity cartridge. If so, that will likely get me through about a year or so. I hope to not have to replace the color cartridge in that year.

      Bottom line: This printer would be a good choice for someone who occasionally prints, and doesn't mind turning the printer on each time and can put it near their computer (no wireless). If you've got a printer that just died and already have a printer cable, and the above describes you, I'd recommend this printer. If you print a lot, you should probably spend more on a printer to find one with less expensive ink cartridges. I'll update this review with any pertinent updates.

      I moved during the past few months and lost my all in one printer somewhere in the transition, well I needed a printer and with limited funds from moving and buying new furniture I looked up some printers here on Amazon and came up with this one. I read the other reviews and settled on this one, figuring it will be okay to get me by for a month or so. I ordered the printer cable also from Amazon because it does not include one and it was no big deal, both the printer and cable arrived quickly. This printer was very easy to set up, it took me just minutes and I am usually terrible at anything dealing with any kind of technology ( my 22 year old son always does these things for me), I was able to do it on my own is how easy this was. I will also say this is a good reliable printer, I am constantly printing, I always print coupons on line and my kids use it for school work and printing reports, I have had this printer for several months now and I am not concerned with buying another all in one as we really did not use the other features often at all. I am very satisfied with this printer, it works very well, the ink is easy to find as I like to stock up because I use often enough to want extra ink on hand, most stores I have been in carry this ink and Amazon has it as well. either way good low price and great working little printer, and if space is a concern for anyone this printer takes up very little space. I would recommend this to anyone and I would buy one of these again if necessary.
