I took delivery of this laptop about a week ago & everything seems to be going well so far. It's in nice aesthetic & running condition for a few year old refurbished laptop in my opinion. I had the seller upgrade mine to 8 GB of RAM & to a Windows 7 64 Bit OS prior to purchasing.

My EliteBook 8440p came with a Windows 7 disk, an i5 2.40GHz processor, a 232 GB hard drive, a built in web cam & microphone, Blue tooth, DVD burner, NVDIA NVS 3100M graphics card, a built in light that shines down on the business class key board & a built in finger print log in scanner (can not find the right HP software or driver to get the finger print scanner operational as of yet - but the finger print scanner was pretty much a bonus to begin with because I wasn't even aware that it came with this computer).

Other then that...it's fairly compact, is light weight, runs cool & quiet, and seems well built with a metal lid & base...

I've only had it for a week now & I will update this review if I have any problems.

My only complaint is that the battery was pretty much useless on the HP

I bought this refurbished HP as a second computer to keep by our TV. At the same time I purchased a brand new Dell as my primary laptop, and paid nearly twice as much. This HP is faster, more solid and dependable. The hard drive on the Dell froze up right after the warranty was up. I am replacing the Dell with another HP 8440 Elitebook. Faster and way more solidly built. My only complaint is that the battery was pretty much useless on the HP.

Great computer and even better customer service. I received the laptop and it looked like new (clean and no obvious blemishes). I found that the computer was very laggy, even after I had it turned on for over 5 minutes. Programs wouldn't open, I received system errors on reboots, etc... It rapidly got worse over the next couple of days. I called customer support from the number on the my invoice. I spoke with Jerry and told him what the machine was doing. He said it sounded like a failing hard drive. He said that he would prep another hard drive, run some videos and tests on it to make sure that it was responsive and performed correctly, and then would put it in the mail the next day - - FREE of charge. The hard drive arrived in a few days. I installed it and the laptop is functioning like brand new.

This came exactly as specified. The one i received was in very good shape. Be aware that this model has very low volume for sound. I am enjoying it and it is working as I needed it to do. The speed is good for the processor and memory configuration. If you need a Windows 7 computer, but don't need a huge hard drive, I give this serious consideration.

Typing on this computer now. It wasn't the HP I wanted but it was certainly cheaper. It is fast enough but I only use it sparingly. Ordering things, cruising a few select websites, and research. Does gaming okay of older games but I don't really game anymore so it doesn't matter to me. Most importantly the screen hinges seem solid which is where most my laptops fail.

The case is sturdy and likely to withstand the normal hazards without major damage. The OS is Windows 7, but I got along with that for years. It's good for years more.
