The microphone picks up my voice but it filters out the background noise from my environment fairly well so that isn't what others hear.
Noise cancellation for hearing isn't great but it isn't awful either. These aren't great if you are a gamer who enjoys music while playing. The sound is pretty flat. I'm not personally grading the headphones harshly for that- I bought them for remote work communication via video conference and I can hear my colleagues well. They can also hear me well. My coworker immediately remarked "She must have gotten a headset because she sounds crisp today". I had previously tried 2 other versions of music headphones that didn't go over well. They were absolutely able to tell the difference without me having told them I had made the purchase.
So far, these are serving me well for the purpose of purchase. I have yet to experience any technical issues- I just plugged them in and I was on my way!
I think it is pretty neat how they light up and change color. There is also an option to turn off the microphone light, which I use often.
