The NC523SFP is an eight lane (x8) PCI Express (PCIe) 10 Gigabit network solution offering superior bandwidth in a ProLiant Ethernet adapter. This dual port PCI Express Gen 2 adapter supports SFP+ (Small Form-factor Pluggable) connectors, requiring either Direct Attach Cable (DAC) for copper environments, or fiber transceivers and fiber cables for fiber optic environments. The NC523SFP ships with advanced server features that ProLiant customers have come to expect, such as support for TCP checksum and segmentation (LSO) offload capability, VLAN tagging, jumbo frames, IPv6, and more. Flexible to order and install, the NC523SFP can be used in either standard or low profile slots.

Overall, this card is great, insanely low price for a 2x10gb card. I’m using this in an HP Compaq Elite 8300 running Centos7. Did not need to install drivers, all interfaces showed up fine. Works perfect with my Cisco sg500, synology ds2419 and microtek 10g DAC cables.

The only reason I’m not giving this item 5 stars is because my order did not come with the small form factor carrier. Currently the card is just balancing in place, not a great long-term solution.

The card gets insanely hot (with or without load). This makes me hesitant to put together a bandaid/electric tape mounting solution.

I’ve contacted the seller, will update this to a 5 if I get a positive outcome from that.

Overall — probably the best priced 2x10g card you will fine.

This is a refurbished server NIC. We tried to use it in a regular PC and the card overheated after a short while, even with virtually no load. So unless you want to put a fan right next to it to keep it cool or you are using it in a server enclosure with plenty of airflow, look elsewhere for a 10GB NIC

The secret is in knowing how to get the Win 10 and server 2019 device drivers. Also flash the cards to the October 2019 update. These are the best out there by far if you are CNE and can handle this kind of stuff. Not for first time user, but then what first time users insert 10gb cards and expensive switches. Good luck and look in the HP Enterprise dealer section for the drivers and flash.

does NOT work with Vmware 5.5/6/7
does NOT work with Windows Server OS of any revision.

maybe you'll have luck with a toy Operating system like Linux. me personally. no. these are useless.

As another reviewer mentioned, this card gets very hot! Enough to burn your fingers. That itself is not the end of the world, but the two cards I got would shutdown after heavy use until they cooled again. Returned them. Purchased a 10g Tek version instead and it barely gets warm. I wouldn't use these unless you are replacing one for strict compatibility reasons.
