We were one of lucky to get two $99 Touchpads (after pounding on the HP Small Business site for 8 hours one Sunday last August, I earned them). This adapter and USB cable with the distinctive mirror circles on each end came with each.

The cable is terrible. The metal connector at the mini-end of the cable is slightly longer in length (I didn't know that was possible, isn't there a universal manufacturing spec?). That extra length keeps the connector from seating properly into the Touchpad's USB socket, and causes an intermittent electrical/data connection.

BOTH HP-supplied cables that came with the 2 Touchpads had the same problem: Once plugged in, the slightest touch to the tablet or the cable started bouncing the connection. Nothing like watching your irreplaceable investment's screen flickering from a shorted electrical connection to get your heart pounding.

I tested the cable on other devices and had the same problem. On a Samsung Focus, I got an electrical connection to allow charging, but it would not make a data connection unless pressure was applied to the underside of the connector to tilt it in the phone's socket.

The OEM Samsumg cable that came with our phones works flawlessly with the Touchpad's circular charging adapter, and provides a stable electrical and data connection. The HP cable's connector physically wiggles in the Touchpad's socket, but the Samsung cable seats firmly.

If you run into the same problem, I would highly recommend buying the Samsung cable.

HP made the horrible decision of making their charger different than any other - two of the terminals are bridged with specific resistors. Even when rated at 2.1A, other adapters will only provide a minimal charge to the TouchPad, increasing the charging time considerably (5x?). This adapter will charge the TouchPad very quickly!

this item is the exact plug (round) and 5ft. Micro USB cable(with the mirror tips) found in the box of the Touchpad itself. I'M very happy with my purchase since I am sure to need a spare down the road. Couldn't complain about the price either. *A definite buy while they are available.*

This is exactly the same as the charger that was included with the HP Touchpad. You can't use just any USB charger with the Touchpad as it requires higher wattage in order to charge properly. However, this charger does a dandy job of charging my cell phone.

Pro: Small in size and the AC prongs fold in to make a neat package

Con: It's cylindrical and somewhat thick so it doesn't fit into a bag quite as easily as something rectangular. Of course it also rolls off tables. ;)

Overview: Does it's job nicely but is slightly bulky.

Bought this charger as a replacement to my Touch Pad tablet. All other chargers not made by HP did not work with
the tablet for some reason.

But all the same product works as described and looks exactly like the original one that came with my Touch Pad Tablet.

I bought this after being prompted by my HP TouchPad that I needed an OEM charger in order for it to charge effectively. I ordered the product and it worked as intended, and usually gives my tablet a full charge within 2 hours of being plugged in on standby. That said, you do not actually need the OEM charger to charge your tablet in full. If you use an aftermarket charger you can simply turn the tablet off entirely and leave it plugged in for roughly 2 days. It will then be able to be fully charged and turn back on just fine etc. If you use your HP TouchPad on the go with regularity though, go for the OEM version here.

I got two of these to charge different USB items that need the 2-amp output; I don't use the HP product this was intended for. I chose it because it looked like it might only take up one space on a powerstrip and ~3 weeks ago when I bought it the price was only $8.99 from a different vendor/fulfilled by Amazon. Liked it well enough to order again, but when I came back to do so the price had gone to $11.50!! Only gave 4 stars because I don't know how well the included cable works since I don't use it. Based on the AC to USB adapter part only, it would get 5 stars. On the powerstrip it leaves room for a plain-corded item in the next slot, so it doesn't actually take up two spaces, but it's just slightly too large to allow putting its brother right next to it. I'm annoyed at the huge price increase so am going to look for a similar item even if I have to pay a couple dollars more - I just don't want to reward the practice of raising the price 28% in 3 weeks!

This charger is a high quality charger capable of outputting the 2A that so many devices need nowadays. I actually bought it to power a Raspberry Pi - a mini computer that uses both mobile\tablet and notebook pc components. Yup I bought his to power a computer, and I have experienced no hiccups thus far. That said this charger also powers wireless dongles and a usb flash drive so I can use my awesome mini computer. My Raspberry Pi only cost be $35, but I would hate to have to ship another over from the UK in the event my power supply for it was bad. I went with this charger instead of the many alternatives out there mostly due to the strong branding, nice specs, and the fact that it appeared to be of high quality, I have not been disappointed in all these regards.

This also worked well with my Google Nexus 7, a tablet that hasn't worked well with other charging methods (no pc usb charge), and I would imagine that it could charge up most tablets out there since 2A and 5.3 Volts tend to be the general spec out there. Having this around should work for charging most of your devices. Just as a 2A iPad charger works for the iPhone, so can this to charge your blackberry's, droids, and probably iphones as well provided you use whatever cable fits your device. Contrary to old-wives tales about charging your electronics, devices only use the Amperage they call for and not more. 2A covers most of the field of mobile electronics and 5.3 Volts won't fry your smaller stuff either. In terms of build, the charger and cable are of great quality. It is made of rubberized matte plastic, and the cable seems to be around 5-6 feet long or so. The cable is also snagless with a bit of stiffness and is nice to have around as well.
