HP Pavilion 300-240 Desktop
This is the second one I bought and it outperforms regular desktops. The price was, of course, excellent compared to what they want now for the same model and also newer ones. I received it packed in the original boxes and appeared to be unused. The only complaint I have is the Keyboard wouldn't work but I really didn't care about that. If you get the opportunity to find one it is a great buy. And the upgrade to the memory and hard drive still make a bargain.

HP Pavilion 300-240 Desktop (Intel Celeron, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB SSD)

I use Linux at home. At the time of purchase, Amazon and Netflix were unsupported. So I purchased this minimalist Windows PC to stream to my TV.
It was always slow and buggy to the point that sometimes you just surrendered and stuck with some cable fare. But when I was in a patient mood, it could eventually) stream to the big flat screen.

About a month ago, Windows messaged that an update was not just available, but would be installed.

And with that, Windows would never again boot up. The error message ("0xc0000185")
indicated Windows was corrupted. A recovery disk and Windows key was required as a fix.

But neither was bundled by HP with the purchase.

So I go to the HP site for support.

1) Enter "HP Pavillion 300-240" in the search bar. You get 17 hits, but no matching results.
2) You also get this message: "Typically, HP stops supporting most products after 10 years"
3) Well, its not a ten year old product, so I entered the model number.
4) Result? "Sorry, no results match your search for "3CR54403FJ."
5) I next try its Virtual Assistant - it too yields no result.
6) I next try "contact an HP agent" First I enter the serial number, then the model number.
7) Result? At each turn: "Sorry, no results match your search..."

Summary:
1) Windows does an update that renders Windows unbootable;
2) what Windows effed up can be remedied only with recovery media and windows key that HP did not provide with the purchase;
3) HP released this product in 2015, and I purchased it in 2016. But HP couldn't wait the usual ten years to end support of this product.
4) So to outdo itself, HP not only scrubbed out existence of this product from its website - it didn't even include it in its list of unsupported products.

To HP: here's hoping another Carly Fiorini awaits you. And for Windows, look forward to the next Windows ME, Vista, Windows 8 and Windows phone calamity.

UPDATE - 10/2018:
I took it to a local PC repair shop. Sure enough, the Windows update needed more space than available on the HD.
They cleaned out unnecessary apps, and I also doubled the RAM.

Sixty dollars later, It now functions well as a Windows streaming device to my Flat Screen TV.
So I've modified the rating to 3 stars.

I really want to like this product because it is small, easy to carry around and was one of product that was being recommend by some users. But is is way too slow, and then it broke down within 3 weeks or use. I want to use this mainly to watch YouTube, read email, and transfer some files from my phone to a hard drive. However, not sure if is the cause of Windows 10 or this was not a well build computer, or both, but it takes 5mins for it to download all the data from the internet to watch a YouTube video, 10mins to download a file from my phone into hard drive, and 2hrs (Yes, 2 hrs!) to download something from my cloud to a hard drive. My last computer which uses a Pentium III runs faster than this. Not to mention how painful it was to use Windows 10 on this computer which I strongly recommend not to get. Just as I am debating if I should upgrade the ram or return the item back to Amazon a black screen showed up with only the mouse cursor on the monitor. No matter how I restart the computer the only thing that showed up on the monitor was a mouse cursor with a black screen. For me it was impossible to restart Windows 10 in a safe mode without going into Windows 10 itself. Therefore, I return this product. I am going to buy something that comes with Windows 7 or build a computer myself so I can make sure it runs right.

P.S Even if the fault comes from Windows 10, the ram that was put inside this machine is just way too slow to make most program run smoothly. Therefore, you will have to know how to upgrade the ram or this computer will be useless in less than 2yrs. Not worth the money.

The mini-pc was very affordable but lasted 1 yr and four months. I am certain that it would have lasted a bit longer if used for basic every day tasks, but multi-display, although claimed in the product description, when attempted, resulted in freezing of the whole screen five minutes after each re-boot. So if you just need the basics, this pc is good, but it will likely let you down for anything more intensive.

For the price and if used for the appropriate purpose, this product is a really good bang for your buck! This is not intended to be your PC for gaming or creating multiple projects (processor speed is a bit slow). If you're using this as an entertainment hub for watching Netflix, Hulu, Prime and streaming then this is great. I purchased this as a replacement for our home PC which is primarily used for surfing the internet, completing needed tasks, and soon to do online schooling. I purchased an additional 8GB of ram for this (costs less than $30) to total 12GB of ram overall.

It came loaded with Windows 10 and the ease of use/speed is sufficient. I would not leave this on "sleep" and would recommend shutting it down when not in use. You can notice a lag in speed if left on for days at a time. Once again if used for the right purpose, this is great.
