The HP Pavilion G4-2029WM AMD A6-4400M Dual-Core 2.7GHz 4GB 500GB DVD+/-RW 14"... arrived in Ft Lauderdale with the plastic wrapping aplyed as if the item had been re-wrapped by a previous owner. Also, it showed a virus or virus-like behavior uppon the instalation of softwares.

I contacted you (Amazon) and received the label and the bar code tag to mail back the item to the original seller store. I must say that it was the first time in years that I received any item with such problem.

So far, I still did not receive any news about the solution of the problem. I bought this HP Pavillion as a gift to Mr Mauro Amato, my brother, who lives in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. I do not know if the money will be reimbursed to my account in Brazil, or if Amazon will allow my brother to choose a different notebook, for sure, not from the same seller.

I thank you very much for your actions concerning the solution of this problem.

Sincerely yours,

Dr José Felipe Amato

Purchased refurbished to save $$. No issues except for keyboard sticking every so often. Need to press down harder when typing and when resuming from sleep mode, the screen starts on with the brightest mode even though it was put to sleep on the dimmest setting. Other than that, no other issues.

Love this little guy...not too small as to be difficult to manage, small enough to have 5+ hours of battery life and be totally portable--able to fit into any bag I choose. Bought to replace one of the exact same model I've had for years without a hitch until the keyboard suddenly became unresponsive. Still want my comp whiz son to try to bring the little dude back to life...I heart 'im!

I've had mine for about 2 years and it has functioned perfectly, save one small fan incident.

It is quick and powerful enough for my laptop needs so no complaints there, I have a much more powerful desktop for serious computing endeavors.

The only complaint I have is that the button to toggle the WiFi on off and off is very easily hit by accident on the keyboard, it doesn't require using a modifier (i.e, Shift + f12 etc) so that can be fairly annoying if you are a fast typist and tend to smack things accidentally every now and again.

On to the fan...
After about a year+ of use it was clear that the exhaust fan was getting a little clogged up, seeing as the laptop was reaching temps of near 75C. I used a can of compressed air to clean it out, but when booting it back up I got the system fan 90b error. After some research I found that it is a fairly common issue with this series of laptops from HP, and that you can cause it yourself if you aren't careful with compressed air. I obviously wasn't careful enough.

I used the user manual that I found online for this laptop to remove the HDD, Optical Drive, and Keyboard. I was planning on removing the motherboard entirely to give the fan a good cleaning. Thankfully, after I removed the keyboard I was able to actually see part of the exhaust fan that was giving me trouble. Low and behold, there were several LARGE pieces of dust/debris blocking the fan. I picked out what I could, grounded myself with an anti-static wrist band, and proceeded to use a high powered vacuum to clean it out.

NOTE: Stick a toothpick between the fan blades to keep it from spinning too fast/in the opposite direction if you are planning on doing this, and are using a powerful vacuum to do it. Always ground yourself to avoid any electro-static discharge. While unlikely to cause damage unless you are handling circuitry directly, always better to be safe that sorry.

Put it all back together, started it up, and the fan whirred about just fine, no more error. Certainly easier than pulling the mobo as well!

I'm leaving my review at 5 stars, because it is not unexpected at all to have fan issues on a laptop, they have very poor ventilation as it is so the fan(s) must work harder to keep everything cool. Not to mention I could have been more gentle with the compressed air.
