So, good news, after a brief (30 minute) online chat with HP they were able to fix the issue. It required updating the bios, uninstalling the video/audio drivers, rebooting, downloading new drivers, installing the new drivers, rebooting, and voila, the speakers and microphone work.
So, overall, this computer is super fast - and I feel I'm going to be very happy with it; however, out of the box, it ABSOLUTELY should not have had these kinds of problems.
Update: troubleshooting with HP doesn't work. After operating system update, the microphone and audio system doesn't seem to be working. Would black out occasionally. Does not have a good internet connection. Will be returning this product.
Man this worked so well. It turns on so fast thanks to that killer SSD and I been testing out the RAM a ton with tons of tabs open on Google Chrome, multiple browser instances, MS Office Apps running alongside that too. I been really giving this a run for its money and it has been flawless. I feel really bad that some people are having audio issues. I have not had any so I'd say take a chance on this and I'm sure customer service will swap you out if yours was a dud. Such happens with any products where a certain percentage just don't work out for some reason. But I assure you, this is amazing. It runs so friggin fast. So happy :). Literally no issues so far at all.
Note: I've had it for 2 months so hopefully this doesn't suddenly break the day after I leave a great review haha
Note: Also, I can't speak for Touch Screen because I hate touch screens so I disabled that function. And I can't speak for battery life since I've never used it without the charger being plugged in so no clue yet.
Secondly, there have been issues when I close the laptop without shutting it down when I open, it always has a blue screen, which is typical signs of crushing. I resolved this by making it never to sleep even when I close it without shutting down.
I’m the only one using the machine, and when I charge it, I ensure it doesn’t charge beyond its standard charge.
Today the biggest disappointment came when opening the laptop hanging on the welcome screen until I ran a diagnostic test and ....... the hard drive test failed, needless to say, its an SSD. Very much disappointed as the laptop is less than a month old.
BOOT DEVICE NOT FOUND!!!
and an ERROR with the following code: 3F0
I followed the steps on the screen and then get a another black screen that confirms that the computer I was sold has NO SSD ( 1tb) installed!
this has me completely speechless.
how can this be possible on a supposedly brand new computer???????
I paid more than $1000 to get the 1TB variant.
I posted pictures for everyone to see the problem I am having.
I am trying to contact Pro-Electroinc, so far no luck.
be very careful!!!!!
i am really hoping they, Pro-Electroinc, do the right thing and fix a problem i shouldnt be having.
