As it happens occasionally, the black ink cartridge is dry as a bone. The color one has not been opened as of yet. I have this trouble, I think they are outdated and is very dissappointing when I am in a hurry to use my printer. I had to go to a local store and buy another no.61 cartridge in black to do my work. Probably won't buy again. I'm not in to returning items, too much aggrevation.

I may be critical when it comes to printers but my HP seems to eat these cartridges alive. We print the typical amount such as coupons, homework assignments, shopping lists, etc. and none of it is heavy duty printing like photos but it seems like with this HP cartridge pack, the black ink runs out within 2 maybe 3 weeks of light printing. We also bought an ink refill kit and tried refilling the cartridge but then, the printer says it's not genuine anymore and suddenly, what should be black ink comes out reddish colored and faded. Anyways, ink isn't cheap and it feels like HP only fills these black cartridges half way. The color cartridge is fine but man does the black run out quickly with just light printing.

What seems to have happened is Hewlett-Packard made affordable printers with unaffordable printer cartridges. Even the plus-sized ink cartridges don't last very long at all, so I feel they've overpriced the ink print cartridges. I think that Hewlett-Packard learned to cash in on over pricing their printer cartridges which has really made it hard for me to own a printer anymore. If it were a fact that even the plus-sized ink cartridges lasted a while, well, I can't even respond to that because it just makes me so upset they last so little time. So yes the cartridges are well-made but they all come with so very little ink in them that last so very little time I don't know what to say except that they are very overpriced.

This ink was just what I was looking for and way cheaper than buying it through another supplier. I was so happy that I had it in two days as with my husband's new business we have really been going through the ink lately! I am so pleased that I was able to find them at a lower price and it was quicker and more reliable than my other supplier! Great buy!

HP quality--good, but grossly overpriced.
This is not an Amazon's issue.
All HP stuff is a poor value for the money.
Good printers; just highly overpriced.
For the cost of the ink, the printers should be gratis.
Just think about those way-fat cats you are supporting when being gouged for ink.
A company short on innovation--they couldn't even make a competitive PC . . .
The low-end HP printers are horrid (like the one this cartridge goes to; I had to buy four new units to get enough parts, software and cords to have one complete working unit). I bought it because I gave a previous model to a friend and she loves the all in one features. The one I bought scans but you need two hundred dollar software to use the scan feature--that software was included at no cost with older models--like the one I bought for my friend.
Wake up, China! The market is wide open!

There are many different suppliers for HP ink cartridges on Amazon. Be sure to check the dates on the packaging, particularly if not received in the retail box. On the plastic wrapper there are two dates - the install by date and the manufacture date which are 18 months apart in YYMMDD format. On the cartridge itself there is a warranty expiration date which is 6 months after the install by date. If you receive loose catridges that are still in the original HP wrapper you can (should) return anything past the install by date. They should still be good until the warranty date if you don't like returns. I will only order from an Amazon supplier that states the dates in their product information in the future. My experience has been mixed with cartridge dates all over the board with some short lived in the printer. And be sure to install the oldest ones first if you keep multiple backups.

Have yet to use the black cartridge, but so far the color one is showing as not being a legitimate cartridge. We have a Officejet 4630 so by all accounts on the box it should have worked. It looks exactly like the cartridge I was replacing, and had the same packaging, but it refuses to recognize this new one. Tried troubleshooting for about an hour and none of the solutions helped. Luckily we only use color ink every once in a while at the office, but now we need to spend money on a different cartridge and hope that the old one that I put back in will last until the new one comes. Very frustrating on both a personal and business level. We have a big show this upcoming week so we can't have this kind of delay.

According to my HP 4632, this POS cartridge was defective/damaged and would not recognize it. Thinking it might be a glitch in my printer, I swapped it out several times, back and forth, with the old depleted cartridge and it always recognized the old cartridge without issue. I remember now why I hate HP - thanks for wasting my time with your shoddy products. Needless to say, I am not happy. What a pain in the ass.
