This thing is quick! Very quick acceleration and stops quickly, too. The truck easily jumps off curbs without missing a beat. The trim needs to adjusted during use, but is easily performed on the remote (radio).
I did cut a small hole in the truck's body (the bed of the truck) to allow access to turn the truck on/off without having to remove the truck body each time.
Update: well i was right, the motor has already burned up less than 4 weeks after getting it. The HPI motor is over $30 so i found another replacement motor for it. Team Associated makes a quality 370 size motor for about $8. Still waiting for it to arrive.
I used to have Tyco R/C cars when I was a kid and these trucks brought back that big stupid grin to my face. I have not had any fun with any of my sons cars or trucks that I bought or family have bought throughout my 7 year olds life. This is the fun I remember as a kid. Fast, responsive and FUN!
This is the first "hobby grade" truck I have purchased. At 1/18th scale it is much smaller in person. It does have a hard time in tall grass or dead thick brush since it's so small. On the other hand it is really fast and the radio works great! Four wheel drive works really well on this little terror.
I've come to find that everything is replaceable on the truck as well as aluminum upgrades from rc18t. This is good as both of the trucks have been broken from smashing into unseen rocks and a little too much fun at a skate park. If you are ordering this truck I highly advise getting a much larger bumper save you from crashes and destroying the shocks, because it will happen.
The only negatives about the truck are the aforementioned bumper, the shocks leak fluid and have to be refilled, the differentials are plastic and require replacements every ten charges to the pack (Getting steel when that happens). The trucks tires are out of serious alignment as well. I am planning on getting adjustable dog-bones to remedy this.
I would totally purchases these again at $90 a piece. If this is your first hobby grade R/C, consider it a gate way drug to much bigger models.
I was surprised how fast this little truck can run. I have had to adjust it to run a little slower so my kids are not breaking it so often but it is fun even to run in the house.
One of my sons received a toy RC truck for his birthday and within the first 10 min it broke and now we cannot fix the part. I would definitely recommend the Mini Recon truck to anyone just getting into the RC hobby.
