If money is a factor for you, I just received my Refurbished HS70 headset from Amazon (I think they called it renewed). I paid $30 for them, and got the cheapest color, which was $10 less and doesn’t look bad.
The comfort is really good. The leather ear padding is really comfortable, and comparable to my Audiotechnica ATH-M50 wired studio headphones. It only squeezes my head a little bit, and it doesn’t hurt at all, in fact I think it’s the right amount for the headphones to be really secure and still comfortable.
The controls on the headset are something I’ve never had, and incredibly convenient. I can keep music playing, and go take a pee or pour myself some more water. Has a volume wheel that works perfectly, mute button that has feedback audio to let you know if mic is muted or not, a lot to plug the mic into, and the mic fits in very securely into an inlet slot, so it won’t fall out no matter what you’re doing.
The mic quality is very sufficient, but not as good of sound quality as any good microphone, and I’m sure other more expensive headsets have it beat, but it sounds very understandable, and impressed me for being a wireless mic attachment.
The charging cord that comes with it is probably enough for anyone to charge while playing, and battery life is supposed to be 16 hours or something like that, more than enough.
The sound quality of the headset speakers are noticeably worse than my studio headphones (~$120 new), but that’s expected. It’s not bad sound quality, only compared to a professional set of headphones that cost me four times the amount of money.
I can’t speak a ton about the durability of these headphones since I’ve only had them for one day, but the material that the frame is made out of is a very strong plastic, and you can bend it just about however you want and it’s not gonna even think about breaking. Genuine abuse of the headset might be a different story.
The weight of these is perfect in my opinion. They’re just heavy enough to not forget they’re there, but they don’t feel heavy on my head.
I do need to point out that the main reason I bought these headphones is for my Oculus Rift VR set, because a wired pair of headphones is really annoying for VR. They work phenomenally well with my Rift.
Having a pair of wireless headphones provides a lot of extra space and freedom for me, since before, I would have to tape my headset wire to my desk to avoid that hanging feeling and making the wired headset feel really heavy. I would recommend them, and for the $30 price tag when the normal price is $100? That’s unbeatable.
When I received the refurbished item, it was very secure in the packaging, bubble wrapped, and if I didn’t know they were refurbished, I’d think I just bought myself a brand new pair. I see absolutely no difference. Not one difference from what a brand new pair of these would look, feel, or perform like.
Revision: Upon further use, the battery life seems to degrade really fast, and turns unimpressive very quickly. Still multiple hours, but I’d like some more out of it.
