What is an unlocked phone?
An unlocked phone is a device that is not bound to any carrier or plan. It allows you to choose your phone first and your carrier second. Upon selecting a plan, simply insert the carrier's SIM card into the phone and you're ready to go. If you decide you want to change carriers down the road or want to take an international trip, it's as simple as replacing your existing SIM card with a new SIM and activating your new plan.
What are the benefits of an unlocked phone?
Freedom: Choose the carrier with the best service or price. If you find a better deal later, you have the ability to change to a different carrier.
Travel: Take your phone internationally and use the carrier of your choice. It's as easy as inserting an active SIM card.
Selection: Choose the phone with the features you want, whether or not your carrier sells it, and get more service options without a contract.
How do I set up my unlocked phone?
The first thing you’ll need is a SIM card for your desired carrier. When activated, the SIM card will let your phone connect to your carrier’s network. If you decide to upgrade to a newer unlocked phone in the future, you can easily remove the SIM card from your old phone and put it in your new phone—just make sure you get the right size of SIM card (nano, micro, or standard) for your phone. If you want to use your phone while traveling internationally, you can easily buy a SIM card for a carrier that operates where you’re traveling. As long as it’s activated, you can just swap SIM cards when you arrive at your destination.

So far from all the testing that I have done, the HTC First has a decent battery life which I wasn't expecting it because it's a mid-range device. It packs a 2000 mAh battery that it's more than enough for people who spent most of their time on Facebook. The screen on the HTC First is 720p which is great for viewing pictures or HD videos. The HTC First is a 4.3 inches device that is perfect for my girlfriend because she has small hands - she's coming from an iPhone 4S. I made her ditch the iPhone 4S and come to Android. :D The HTC First comes with Snapdragon 400 which is a dual core CPU that runs at 1.4Ghz. It has no problems handling everything you throw at it and consumes very little power when it's running; qualcomm really knows how to make great chips.Read more ›
The battery lasted very long. Very light, the sound is ok, has lots of memory. you can not add a memory card
In to the phone. The battery is build in. You can not change batteries, I did not like it at first but my daughter loves
Now it's April and for some reasons the screen's cracked again(while having the "otterbox" on), and there's no way I will go have it fixed again!! Now I'm going to buy a military grade rugged phone...
Other than that, there are too many apps that I can't delete, can't change the number of home pages, SIM card's in the socket which is inconvient, other functions works fine I guess. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone.
PS: Before this HTC I was using some cheap Chinese phone my mom got for free, and I've dropped it and sat on it and nothing ever happened to the screen!! The glass screen on this phone actually comes out of the body for like 1mm, who the heck designed it this way???
