Either way, the controller is a nightmare because of this single faulty design; it would be 5 stars if it wasn't for this problem
The only way to fix this is by opening it up or sending it back.. if your warranty is up, guess what, you are going to want to open it. But beware... While its fairly easy to do.... you will find that when you open it, there is a very delicate ribbon that controls the haptic feedback (vibrations) that has probably been torn as a result of opening the case. That ribbon is held on by a very small amount of adhesive. Given the price tag, youd think the internals would be top notch. You would be wrong.
5 stars for use, 2 stars off for lazy internal setup and crazy price. So expensive in fact that I'm not even going to bother buying a new one and hope the SteamVR Knuckles are reasonably priced or the updated VR pro controllers* are more affordable.
*as far as i know, the vr pro controllers being updated version is just a rumor.
There is an obvious design flaw and the only reason I bought this extra controller was so that I still had two while they decided on repairing the other or replacing it. There are videos on how to repair them yourself, however, that voids the warranty.
Though there are no other options for the Vive at the moment, the controllers are exactly the same as those that come with the device. It is a shame that they cost so much for a single controller when the competitive system gives you two of them for less.
