NOT WHAT I EXPECTED - In sum, Hyde is a story about a quest. Not the Dungeons and Dragons/sword and sorcery kind. But the type of quest that many people never even embark on: one of self-discovery. The phrase finding out who you really are is featured more than once, and it is used well. Not something I come across often when given an erotic horror story to read.

For some readers, a few of the subjects may be off-putting. For me, one of the marks of a good author is how he or she handles writing what can be considered difficult subject matter for the majority of the population. Churchill handles these subjects kidnapping and voyeurism, to name a few with a deft pen. (er... keyboard?) But at the conclusion of this story, even the initial feelings you have about Hyde s actions are turned upside down and inside out.

This is truly an erotic horror, so brace yourself. Once you ve decided to strap in, Churchill creates an enthralling experience for the reader. His imagery is creative, but not over-worked. He used his words craftily, bringing each character s emotions to the reader in a vivid bas-relief, making reading Hyde an almost tactile experience. Both fear and sexual pleasure are given equal attention and the writing of each is powerfully effective.

Hyde is also peppered with pictures, shown like stacks of Polaroid photos within the text. I m pleased to say that each artist is credited with copyright for their work just inside the cover --Amazon

This was my first experience with Vince Churchill's work, and I'm glad I picked this one to start out with, because now I have another author to look for when I need something good to read. It's hard to find quality, erotic fiction so, I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I got started. I was pleasantly surprised. The story line was fast paced and the mystery aspect was well planned and put together. The fetish aspect wasn't overly done, but still managed to be sexy as hell. The editing was tight and over all, I enjoyed this tale from beginning to end. Well done! I'll be looking for more of Churchill's stuff from now on. --Amazon

Hyde is a dark, erotic thriller that is most definitely twisted, tortured and a great read. Vince Churchill has many titles published but this is my first read by him and I have to say I am impressed.

I do enjoy erotica, but don't read it often because a lot of those stories tend to get boring, repetitive or have no real plot line, not so with Hyde.

We are first introduced to Sam, the main character, at the gym and its obvious she can take care of herself; so she should, she is a Detective in a Major Crimes unit, her personality is a little cliché but works well due to VC writing skills.

Cut to Simone and VC launches straight into some mind boggling rough sex, finished with a sms text. Not sure about this as an opening chapter, that much in my face was a little hard to take and took me several attempts to get into, I was also a little confused. However, all becomes clear when we find out how the two are related and Hyde or The Keeper, as the police like to call him, has his next victim.

But The Keeper is not your usual kidnapper, he is on a mission, Hyde is sexy, thrilling, and just weird enough to almost believe, to almost want to be kidnapped yourself, almost.

The hunt and the game are soon on and it makes for riveting reading. Naively I thought I understood the plot line and how this would soon pan out along the usual lines and become obvious but VC soon twisted that on its head!

VC's imagery is creative, making reading Hyde an almost visceral experience; fear and sex are given equal attention and the writing of each is powerfully effective and emotive.

The story, in my opinion, lends itself to being longer, it could have been expanded and still not felt drawn out, it was almost the clipped and edited version, like editors used to do to SK; put your foot down Mr Churchill. --Amazon
