In comes this guide with 101 ways to better yourself, simply, in steps anyone can follow- and you can start today. I've been on a 'self-help' book kick lately. I go through phases where I just feel I need some motivation to be the best person I can be. What better motivation than a book that gives me tips to be a bit better?
Habit Flip is a pretty quick read, but it will have you delving back for more. I've found myself rereading this book many times, reminding myself of different ideas it bestowed upon me. I mean, with 101 ways to better yourself- we're bound to forget a few, aren't we? So rather than losing those in the back of my mind, I took a different approach. After my first time reading the book I picked out just 5 things that I could work on. 5 Tips to better myself. A week later I added another five. And to this day I'm still picking out 5 to work on. Some take practice, others click right away. But all can be accomplished with a few simple steps. No need to go out and spend thousands of dollars. Just make a few small changes, and the bigger changes will follow.
I always knew that the big picture, started with a small stroke of a paint brush. So needless to say paying attention to the smaller details in my life would help me better the bigger details. And it's working. I feel way more motivated, happy, and content since following a few of the steps in this book. And I hope within the next year or so I can manage to implement almost all of the steps into my life. They're easy and they're steps everyone can follow.
Whether this is the first self-help book you've read, or the one hundredth, I can promise you'll benefit from it in some way. I'm glad I own it, and I return to it often. I find myself continually reminded that habits do make difference in how good of a person I am. And bettering the little things, changes the big things too!
There is a lot of content in this book and it is truly life changing when practiced. I highly recommend it since it has helped me so much.
It's not very long and is good for a rainy day. There's still quite a substantial amount of information in it that is all to-the-point and not fluff. Very straightforward and effective. I haven't really had enough time to gauge if I'm "flipping my habits" or not, but I feel like this book has really helped me mentally with this issue.
The author tells the reader that you can't just up and create massive changes in your habits. I feel like the processes in this book definitely will take time and effort for these big changes to take effect. So if you're looking for a "quick habit flip" I don't think this is it.
Overall I liked the book for it's effectiveness and quick easy reading as well as the explained methods. Also one of my favourite things about it was the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. They were all meaningful to me, motivational, and inspirational. The reason it's four stars is because I wish the content were a little more in-depth and longer maybe. If it's a habit flip for the big changes instead of small ones, I think it should be lengthened. I also think the author has a lot more to add than he's letting on :)
