I purchased this unit for homebrewing purposes and it didn't power up right out of the box. Customer service was very helpful and replaced the unit. The second unit arrived and worked fine (once, keep reading). FYI - the instructions are horrendous and essentially useless. Their own support personnel will freely admit this. So, you'll have to do a Google search for any worthwhile information.

Unfortunately, I had to take a brief hiatus from brewing for several reasons and then went to use the PH meter again and the second unit no longer powers up. And, since it's now been past the 6 month warranty from the first purchase they won't replace it or offer anything other than to say, "sorry". Unacceptable that a $122 device won't even power up nor will the manufacturer honor their product. Two units, $122 spent, one use, pathetic!

Not worth the box it came in!

All the promises of easy and accurate pH readings for our pool. Worked well for maybe 3 mos then started providing inaccurate readings. After calling the company to ask about calobration, etc., we found out that they recommend replacement of the sensor-head every 90 days or so and at a cost of approximately $100!!! It is little wonder nearly no one in the professional pool maintenace community use this instrument. We have found other much more reliable pH measuring methods at a fraction of the initial cost of this now worthless item let alone the quarterly replacement cost that creates a $400 revenue steam for Hach at our expense. Stay away from this device unless you can generate the revenue to offset the periodic replacement of the sensor head.
