I had very high expectations for this book and I was still very impressed with it. The level of detail and examples of implementations are just right. I found the book to be a very pragmatic approach to teaching the techniques utilized by the world's top growth teams, from knowing which questions to ask customers to analyzing conversion funnels. There are many actionable recommendations that even non-tech companies can incorporate into their data driven marketing strategies immediately.

This is the definitive book on Growth and an absolute must read for marketing, product, and analytics teams. Easily in the most informative and interesting book on Growth Hacking.

This is a true step-by-step playbook for any growth marketer who wants to drive revenue and grow their business.

The authors (leaders of the "growth hacking" movement; one author is the guy who coined the term) set the record straight that "growth hacking" is not a tactic or strategy. It's not a one-and-done hack that will instantly drive a flood of new users. Rather, growth is a mindset and done through a very methodical process by which you run small tests at low risk as fast as possible to generate quick wins, then iterate and grow incrementally. That's exactly what this book teaches.

The authors walk the reader through each stage of building a growth machine, give examples from real companies, and, the best part, they apply this process to a hypothetical scenario/product so you can see what it would look like from beginning to end.

The steps the authors will walk you through in detail:
Part 1 – The Method
-Building growth teams
-Determining if your product is a must have
-Identifying your growth levers
-Testing at high-tempo
Part 2 – The Growth Hacking Playbook
-Hacking acquisition
-Hacking activation
-Hacking retention
-Hacking monetization
-A virtuous cycle of growth

If you're looking for a magic bullet that will make your product go viral and save your business, this is not the book for you (sorry, there is no magic bullets in business). However, if you're looking to learn a process whereby you can learn how to design high-tempo tests, find your growth levers, and engineer a long-term growth machine, this is the book for you.

I run growth at a venture-backed company in Silicon Valley and consider myself pretty advanced, and I learned a ton from this book. I highly recommend it to anyone in marketing, product, and growth.

If you are a business owner, manager, marketer, product manager or salesperson within a business, this book will become your new go-to business bible. Hacking Growth reads like the blueprint for business growth but one that actually makes sense in today's market. Let's be honest - the business landscape has really changed in the last 10 years or so, and Hacking Growth not only makes sense of that but also shows business leaders of all stripes how to organize, prioritize and test the most promising opportunities to grow, no matter where they might exist.

For example, in typical businesses the marketing and sales departments are responsible for growth, but Brown and Ellis show how that way of working is now outdated. Many of the examples show how growth comes from things such as better customer retention and better pricing, and how the best companies test their assumptions continually to find what works best.

The best part about this book is that it's actionable now, but the processes don't have a shelf life, they just make good business sense. I think any leader can read it and put it into practice, and it will be a manageable guide for their team, too. Definitely recommend!

As an intro to growth hacking I was able to read through the book and grasp all the concepts. Sean broke concepts down easy for anyone to understand. Since studying growth hacking more, I can't wait to read it again!

If you learned a lot about traction amd aqcuisition from the best seller "traction", now its time to learn how to implement a solid growth strategy in your company... And this book does just that. If you read it, you probably be way ahead of your competition.

I read it just after finishing another Great book, "scrum" , which actually does have a lot similarities.

Anyway, a must read for founders and marketers

This book is a refreshing change from the current books circulating this sector. It's packed with relevant, recent and reputable examples that hold your interest throughout. While I had originally planned to enjoy this book with a cold beer, I ended up hurrying home to find a pen and paper to start collecting ideas that would be appropriate for me. If you can see yourself in a similar position - I recommend you grab it. Great book.

I personally have the audio book for my commute and love it! I'm running, BotList.co, a bootstrapped startup right now that is solving the discovery side of the chatbot industry. Hacking Growth is helping my company push it's limits for the short amount of time that we get to spend on the product.

So many great lessons in Hacking Growth and highly recommend it to everyone who is associated with growing a company. Wish I could give it 10 stars.

Hi I’m Douglas Burdett, host of The Marketing Book Podcast and I’d like to tell you about the book "Hacking Growth: How Today's Fastest-Growing Companies Drive Breakout Success" by Sean Ellis and Morgan Brown.

I recently interviewed an author of a marketing book who maintains that if you, as a marketer have not read Robert Cialdini’s seminal book published in 1984, "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion", that you simply cannot be taken seriously as a marketer. He’s absolutely correct. There’s another book that is going to be added to the list of books that marketers must read to be taken seriously, and that is “Hacking Growth.” And the reason for this is because marketers are too focused on traditional marketing and not on the financial realities of their companies.

A recent McKinsey study of publicly traded companies showed absolutely no correlation between marketing investment and growth rates. Another study of CEOs views of traditional marketing, conducted by the Fournaise Group, reported that 73% of CEOs think marketers lack business credibility and are not-effectiveness focused enough.” And 72% of CEOs agreed with the statement that marketers “are always asking for money but can barely explain how much incremental business this money will generate.”

Growth hacking enables companies to achieve breakout growth without pouring money into outdated and horribly expensive marketing campaigns with questionable business value. Devising features that get consumers to love a product or service and spread the word to their friends, and create hacks to reach customers in new, measurable ways, is taking the place of cash-guzzling marketing and ad campaigns, and the upside is enormous. Traditional marketing is a bit like bloodletting to cure a patient. It was done for centuries and continued because it was generally believed by experts to be beneficial. But it wasn’t.

So if you think of traditional marketing as bloodletting, think of growth hacking as modern medicine. Put simply, every company needs to grow their base of customers in order to survive and thrive. It's about how to engage, activate, and win them over so they keep coming back for more. It's about how to adapt nimbly to their ever-changing needs and desires and turn them not only into a growing source of revenue, but also passionate investors and an engine of word-of-mouth growth for your company.

Growth hacking is a new fundamental business methodology that all companies, and every founder, every corporate team leader, and every department head and CEO who needs to meet high expectations, produce meaningful results, and achieve their business goals with limited investment and maximum return on their marketing dollars must adopt.

"Hacking Growth" is the first practical, accessible, step-by-step playbook to hacking growth - written by one of its founders and in collaboration with one of its most expert practitioners, that can be adopted by any team, department, or company of any stripe.
