This is only the latest installment in what has turned out to be one of the most fun places to visit. I wait for each new book to come out and then start reading and don't stop until I've finished. Each book in the series is stand alone, so you don't have to start at the beginning but once you read one you'll want to. The recurring cast of characters is so much fun and will have you laughing out loud and at times shedding a couple tears too.
This is the story of Ali and Luke. They are so far probably my favorite Lucky Harbor couple with the exception of Chloe and Sawyer circa Head over Heels.
Ali's having a bad day, maybe more like a bad month. After being dumped by her boyfriend, and finding she suddenly has no where to live, she's also being accused of being a thief. Luke has come to Lucky Harbor to find some peace and a much needed vacation. What he finds instead is Ali, in her underwear. Charmed by her, and suckered in by her predicament he decides to help her get back on her feet and help find out who's really responsible for the crime she's being accused of.
The chemistry between these two is so steamy, and adorable. Which is a feat in and of itself. The antics of the background cast of characters will make you laugh out loud. Lucille is my favorite!!
Where ever you start in the Lucky Harbor series you won't be disappointed, but you will be busy for a while because once you read one you won't be able to stop! If you are a fan of Contemporary Romance look no further than Jill Shalvis!
Ali Winters meets Detective Luke Hanover when she is standing in the kitchen of the rental house she shared with her ex boyfriend in nothing but her underwear. She throws a key bowl at his head thinking he is a burglar, only to find out that he is the owner of the house and he has come to stay there for a couple weeks.
They come to an agreement over Ali staying until she finds somewhere else to stay. When Ali is accused of committing a theft, Luke volunteers to help her prove her innocence.
Although the story follows a standard romance formula, the snappy dialogue and vibrant characters make this story one of a kind. By the end of the story I was as in love with Luke as Ali which is how it should be.
If there was one thing I didn't like about this story it would be the speed of which Ali and Luke get together after her ex cheats on her and dumps her by text message. It is a personal preference for sure, but I have a problem liking any character who starts off a book crazy about one guy only to end the book completely in love with another one. It makes me think that the character is fickle, which is something the no one wants their romance hero or heroine to be.
This personal bias is the only reason I wouldn't give this book five stars.
This book made me happy and I loved Luke and Ali, their romance was perfection, and there was even a bit of a mystery to be solved by the yummy Luke which was brilliant and right up his alley as a police detective.
This series just gets better with every book and Lucky Harbor has become one of my favorite places to be!
