Sometimes music is soothing, sometimes cathartic, sometime meditative....and sometimes the blend of words and music is of such purity, the heart opens, listens and returns to the awareness of everyday living like a flower, opened petal by petal. The fragrance released by the music of Laszlo Slomovits is like that for me.
There is an innocence of notes to the invitation of Hafiz' words "The God Who Only Knows Four Words." The flute's mysticism shines in "A Hole in the Flute" and the guitar's sensuality is wrapped in the loving words of "Our Union". I learn how to be more present to my lover, family, friends. Rabia's, "It Acts Like Love" is given such a gentleness of sound that forgiveness arrives in the opening of the entire flower garden. I want to dance when the music skips and lilts in Rumi's, "Isn't That Something?" There is a mysterious edginess to the music applied to the words of Hafiz in "Ten Thousand Idiots". And the harmonica whines and wails in Kabir's wake up call in "Kabir Blues", "If you circled every holy shrine in the world ten times, it would not get you to heaven as quick as controlling your anger." There is the incense rising and the heart's surrendering in "And Love Says". And my favorite experience returns each time Laszlo's soothing voice enables me to Trust in the music and words in Hafiz' poem, "Just Rest."
This CD is a gift of the heart for you to give to others or to yourself.
