The Hagstrom Classic! The most common issue with P-90 pickups is that players love the tone, but often think that they are too weak. We fixed that by equipping this lovely axe with our specially developed P-90-S Pickups! (the "S" stands for "Spiced")

I was nervous buying this having never picked one up, but I have done ALOT of web research reading countless reviews, opinions and demo videos. I had a LTD Truckster which I sold to buy this. I didn't like the extra jumbo frets, string spacing or the active EMG's on that guitar. Don't get me wrong, it too was very well made and finished, just didn't fit me well and I found the pick ups a little muddy and dark for my playing.
About the neck. I have average sized fingers, not stumps, but not the long slender fingers better suited to a guitarist. I have been playing 25-30 years, so I have handled some different neck profiles. This neck is cut thin, (thinnest one I now own), but I REALLY like it. Because of the H-shaped truss rod they can cut this neck thinner, and I find I can fret easier, have my hand in a more natural position, and move and slide with a LOT less effort. I couldn't slide around on the LTD, (mainly because of the XJ frets). The fret board material is their "Resinator" man made material. For me, it's wonderful. It has a very tight, slick feel, adding to the ease of getting around on the fret board. The frets are middle of the road, not too high, not too thin. Easily fretted, but sliding over them isn't distracting at all.
The pick ups. They are the BONUS feature. They call them "spiced" P-90's. They are VERY lively and I can get bright, sharp lead tones with alot of attack, or deeper tones with quiet resonance. They will hiss, but you have to really crank the gain to begin to get there. (A noise gate would easily block it out). You can get bright clean tones, or rock out with crunch. Don't let the older design throw you. These pick ups are SWEET!
No regrets about this guitar, VERY HAPPY!
