Eve and Philip’s most unusual courtship begins when he drives his car into her beauty shop. Not a recommended method to attract a woman, but successful for Philip. He woos Eve, a widow still mourning the tragic death of her husband, by mopping suds from her shop floor, chasing bad guys, and helping solve a mystery. Again, not tips you’ll find on the customary “How to Win the Love of a Good Woman,” but it works here, and you’ll find yourself rooting for the couple to navigate through danger and hair dye and many, many chili cheeseburgers.
While he remains in town, their relationship grows, and he tries to convince her that a long distance relationship will work. She’s afraid her heart will be broken again. Throwing in missing cash, death threats, and a little amateur sleuthing, makes this story a fun read with a dash of excitement.
Who would think love would be the verdict of this ‘hairy’ chain of events? The two pull together to find a missing large sum of money, as well as why Eve got botched hair products to begin with.
Comical chaos flows effortlessly in this starry-eyed, humorous tale of misfortune surprisingly turning to serendipity. ‘Hair Calamities and Hot Cash’ is a fresh, cozy, romantic mystery by Gail Pallotta...every bit brilliant and complete with charm, excitement and wit.
Rather than staying angry at the driver, a handsome stockbroker, Philip Wells, she feels sorry for him as now his business in her part of the country has come to a halt. But that can't be all bad as he's gorgeous and is the first man she's found interesting since her husband died.
The story kept me in stitches with the crazy happenings including a floor flooded with suds and a relic of a car that barely makes it up the mountain to the restaurant.
In Hair Calamities and Hot Cash, small town America collides with the big city. Gail entertains readers with the use of creative phrases such as "Phillip had been dating a cubic zirconium when Eve was the real thing."
Danger and suspense round out the story. I recommend it if you like romance, suspense, and comedy all in one entertaining novel.
