- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2019My wife and I bought this book for a friend of ours who are having their first baby. Being the child of interracial ethnicity, we wanted to gift her with a few books that would highlight the beauty of her uniqueness. Ironically, after receiving the books, the new mom to be cried genuine tears of how beautiful the story was. She was in a mixed child herself and I think the book spoke to the little girl inside of her who was teased and didn't understand the true beauty of her uniqueness as well. We haven't read this book, but felt that there was indeed power in this book so we followed our unction and this book ministered to mommy and daughter through the emotions of mommy :) Good job.

The mother empowers her daughter to embrace her differences and appreciate the differences of others. As an African American woman I can appreciate lessons that Mrs. Perry graciously teaches to all children In her series, Kids Like Mine.

My 5yo loved seeing someone who looks like her in a book. She said she already knew that everyone was different and unique, but she seemed happy to see representation and was surprised about twins. Seemed to help her feel better about not looking exactly like me or her dad, a big struggle of hers. Gave this one to her as soon as it came in and am saving the skin like mine book to give her for Christmas.
