I almost wrecked my car the first time I heard Halestorm on the radio; not only do they have a powerful female on lead vocals, but the guitar riffs are awesome. I haven't heard anything like this since the early 90s. I listen to a wide variety of music genres, but I didn't stop liking rock just because hip-hop & electronica seemed to take over. I guess rock stations aren't as popular as they once were, and great rock albums are even harder to come by.

THEN THERE WAS HALESTORM! Yaaay! I have always been a huge fan of female rockers like the Wilson sisters in Heart, Lita Ford, and Bonnie Tyler, just to name a few -- I even like the chick's vocals in Evanescence, but it's been a long time since I heard something like Halestorm. My favorite tracks are the first three: It's Not You, I Get Off, and Bet U Wish U Had Me Back. I love the lyrics, love the vocals, and can't get enough of the guitars.

The lyrics are sexual (reminds me of Bret Michael's lyrics a little*edit*<--I take this back, Halestorm's lyrics have some depth to them), which isn't anything new in the world of rock'n'roll, but it's refreshing to hear a chick addressing guys instead of the other way around. Each track has its own unique sound, which is great because I can't stand repetition.

The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was the number of slower songs versus faster songs. I am starved for an album that doesn't rely so heavily on slow tracks, but it seems to happen a lot with female lead vocals.

I saw Halestorm last night in Charleston and did they rock hard. Amazingly talented band, the drum solo they did in the middle was awesome. The live version of Familiar Taste Of Poison was incredible.

I've seen mentions of comparisons to Pat Benatar & Heart but the band / performer that came to my mind most listening to and seeing them is Joan Jett. Lzzy has the growl and attitude, the guitarist was tight, her brother has the drums on lockdown and he and the bassist are in the pocket, holding it all together. The production is a bit slick but they are able to recreate almost all the production live so I won't fault them that.

Buy the album and you will not regret it. As someone else said, next time they come round I do believe they won't be playing a small club but a larger venue.

Lzzy and the boys debut release just goes to show you why they will be around for a long time! I heard Halestorm on the RJD tribute cd,and thought they did a Great job on their cover of Straight through the heart, but was'nt sure I would like their original music. Anyway,I decided I'd take a chance and buy this to see if I would dig it,and I am so glad I did! Every song on this Masterpiece is Great! Lzzy's vocal abilities, and strong lyrics, reall get her point across, while the musicianship on here is fantastic! If you dont have this-GO GET IT NOW!!!! You wont be disappointed! Highly Recommended!!!

I saw Halestorm in concert last night here in Charleston. All I can say is that this band is even better live than on CD, and the CD rocks. Fantastic CD filled with some of the catchiest hard rock tunes I've heard in quite a while. They are also an amazing live band, so check them out if they come to your town. I've got a feeling the next time I see them it will be in a much larger venue.

This group is just AWESOME. It has something for everyone. Hard Rock - Ballads and Pop. Lzzy Hale is a hidden gem and her voice is the best I've heard - right up there with P!nk and Pat Benatar. I wish Halestorm could get more air time on the radio so that the rest of the world could hear just how awesome they are.

I'm generally not into the mainstream female-led bands. I generally prefer European female-led symphonic metal/rock. But Halestorm has really impressed me very quickly. They are heavier than most of the mainstream female-led stuff that we hear in the US: comparable to bands like Seether, Shinedown, Three Days Grace, and Lostprophets. But they don't try to be any of these bands, they much have their own sound. Lzzy has a great voice and carries the songs well. The guitar parts also sound great.

Nearly all the songs are very catchy. Stand outs include "I Get Off", "Love/Hate Heartbreak", and "Dirty Work." "I Get Off" is probably the song that sold me on this album because Lzzy really rocks out on the chorus. I'd say the only song that I'm not a huge fan of is "Bet U wish U had me back" which is more mellow than many of the other songs.

I wouldn't even bring it up except that I've been seeing people say it everywhere but no, Halestorm is absolutely not the "new Evanescence." Evanescence has more of a gothic sound while Halestorm is less minor (for lack of another word) and closer to the sound of the bands I mentioned above.

Overall, I was very impressed. I would like to see more from this band in the future. I think it's a great pick for fans of alternative mainstream rock or even fans of some of those European female-led bands (Within Temptation, Nightwish, Delain, Xandria).
