Alone and abandoned she starts having problems from the claim and so she turns to her friends for help. Her life turns upside down again as a new and menacing evil is after her and she is thrust into another battle.
In Shadowed Memories: Sophia has survived through some crazy stuff but now there is a phrophecy that is looming over her head. Sophia and Sage's whole world is turned upside down and yet they find that they will conquer it all together. When Sophia realizes that she has powers beyond what she ever imagined she proves that she is stronger than everyone ever knew. Will it be enough?
In Dark Soul: The lives of Sophia, Sage and their families are forever altered due to the truth of the phrophecy. Will trying to embrace it and protect what's theirs bring them peace? Or will the evil forces finally destroy what they've been trying so hard to protect? Can their relationships stand all the pressure and stress or will it send some of them packing and running for the hills? Such an amazing series and you will be a fan for life of this author! Amazing!
However it was entertaining and had a decent plot and so a good way to pass the time.
From the very beginning, the author ignites a fire inside of Sophia, Blood Claim‘s main character, which easily lifts off the page lighting a spark in the imagination. As with most successful novels, this author manages to pose intriguing questions within the reader right out of the gate. I couldn’t help but to keep reading my way to the answers. Right away, I wanted to know who this girl was and what she was looking for. It didn’t take long for me to become completely entrenched into her character, rooting for her to reach her goals. For clarity’s sake, I’ll start from the beginning.
This story takes place in a small Georgian town, where there seems to be a suspicious congregation of vampires. It begins with Sophia running away from a dark and mysterious past. However, she has not landed in this remote city by accident. We quickly find out that she is on the hunt for one special girl who seems to be oblivious to the fact that her life is in danger. We quickly find out that it will be Sophia’s sole responsibility and mission to save her from the evils that she doesn’t even know exist. This tantalizing and seductive tale steadily escalates to an action-packed hero’s tale with just the right amount of romance and humor. McMinimy’s ability to provide just the right balance of these elements lends to the book’s exciting climax and highly satisfying ending.
Before we get there, though, there are plenty of twists to the thickening plot. As I journeyed with Sophia through a world of shape-shifting and blood curdling adventure, I loved the fact that I was able to stop to share sweet moments of romantic bliss and the formation of genuine friendship between the characters. These relationships somehow roped me in as if I was actually a part of the group. McMinimy’s choice to tell this story in the first person turned out to be a great move, in my opinion, as I was able to keep up with the fast-paced emotions that coursed through her over the course of the book. Driving the plot even further were Sophia’s extra-terrestrial abilities that served as a tool to help readers keep up with how others were feeling and how they fit into the overall picture.
While the book moved quickly, reaching the end far sooner than I would have liked, I somehow didn’t feel cheated. The pacing was steady, the timeline felt realistic and no details were spared. There were several loose ends at the story’s end, and I applaud the author’s ability to tie them up in succinct and unpredictable ways. There was surprise, elation and heartbreak and they were all completely necessary.
This author’s writing style gave a simplistic story depth that others in this genre can sometimes lack. The back story rich and the present story impeccably delivered, I give this story two thumbs up [ed note: out of 2 thumbs]. I recommend that anyone looking for something original and emotionally stimulating pick this book up right away. Blood Claim is sure to give you a gratifying introduction to Magen McMinimy’s breathtaking lore and leave you anxiously craving the second installment.
