Editorial Reviews

Half-Share? Quarter-Share? Men who impersonate Cher? The gays on Fire Island speak a different lingo and for a newcomer like Mac, it's way more than a mouthful! Practically heterosexual and fresh out of a 14-year relationship, Mac packs his Birkenstocks and emotional baggage for a summer share. What he envisions as relaxing, reflective beach-time turns into high camp hysteria when his eccentric housemates take a fish out of water and fling him headfirst into the glittery gay shark-pond! (COMEDY)

So I have seen Half-Share three times at three different LGBT film festivals this year...and I love it so much. Sean Hanley's and Jesse Archer's film is witty, fun, provocative, silly in all the right ways, and a just-plain good ol' gay time. I particularly like Alec Mapa's and Jesse Archer's performances.

And what I am super impressed with is how the jokes keep on coming. Seriously...like, every 20 seconds. THAT is GOOD WRITING. I won't give anything away, but all I have to say is the word "blouse" has a new meaning for me now.

I actually recommended the Palm Springs gay fest take a look at screening it this past summer...and it won the Audience Favorite for Gay Male Short Film!! Definitely purchase this film and share it with all your pals.

Such a funny, witty short film with such heart! I only wish it was longer or that they'd film another episode! I loved the characters -- so hilarious! Although it's a comedy, it's real and touches on big relationship issues (romantic and social) that everyone can relate to.

Loved this little Valentine to the craziness that IS Fire Island. Very timely, terrific fun and great little cast. Let's see more please. Shout out to the drag queen who fell into the Pines Harbor- How on earth did you get that shot?

Mapa and Archer are at their best here. Very, very funny, what you would expect about a show set in P-Town. Appears to have been a pilot TV show for a series...pity, it would have been great if had become a TV series. Mapa is hilarious here as are the rest of the cast and the one unknown drag queen we see always a bit drunk every few shots of the show, clearly can do visual gags par extraordinaire. There is a "coming of age/realization" theme with one of the characters here but the show never gets to carried away with itself about this - it understands that the point here is to make you laugh whether you are gay or straight or in between.

I went to see this at the Phoenix Desperado GLBTIQ Film Festival 2012 & didn't really know much about it. I LOVED it! It was definitely my favorite of the weekend! I highly recommend it if you get a chance to see it! I hope it's released on DVD soon! EXCELLENT!!! :-)

I also hope they make a feature-length version! That'd be AMAZING!!! :-)

Half-Share is funny from beginning to end, and not the ho-hum, laugh track type of funny of most network sitcoms, but an edgy hilarity that captures the craziness of sharing a summer house on Fire Island. The writing is great, the characters are well-developed and even the background characters (especially the drag queen falling off the dock) are captured with comic flair. The one-liners keep coming and never disappoint. Watch it!

I saw this comedy at the Palm Springs short film festival, and could NOT get it of my head .It was truly the BEST gay themed comedy I had ever seen . By the end of the show , it felt like I had made a few new friends ( crazy ones ) and could not wait to see them again .. I'm still eagerly waitng ..why this show did not get picked up ...still baffles me ! A definate must see ...

A great little film, I always Alec Mapa. It is a fun story about the occasional need to just get over yourself and have some fun. It is a short, and it will be nice if it can grow into a feature or gets Mapa the funding for another project.
