I've come to the place with m/m now that I don't read a lot of the reviews before reading a book. I often read them afterwards, shaking my head at what different takes folks have on the same book. I've become pretty good at vetting for a book that I will like so I find very few that I read that I can't give a four or five star review to. I'm sure there are stinkers out there but this is not one of them. in my opinion. I quite enjoyed it and will be downloading more from this author very soon.
I do believe this is my new favorite in the family series!!
Jason, a surgeon who only wants a one-night-stand, goes to a bar and meets Abe, a teacher who only does the relationship thing. I really do love when a book takes characters out of their comfort zone and shows how a stranger can make you want to be a better person. This book had little relationship angst and we get to see how clueless some people can be even when they are ridiculously smart!
POV ... third person
Stand alone or series... Book 4 in a series but CAN be read as a stand alone
Would I recommend it ... Yes
Did it give me a book hangover... yes
Would I read it again ... yes
Jason is a 36 year old divorcee that always wanted a close knit family like his own. He thought he had that with his wife and children but couldn't keep his sexual appetite for men at bay and the marriage ended but it was also what was best for the family. He feels that he lost his chance at the whole marriage and family thing but then as he was trolling for a one-night hook up he heard that laugh, the laugh that would change his whole world, he just didn't know it yet...
Abe never went home with strangers but it was his birthday and it's been three long years since he has been with anyone. He is a relationship guy, not the f- them and leave them type but this man got to him and he wanted a damn birthday present. He deserved it. And after that night, he didn't think he would even see Jason again but months later, there he was and round two was set and ready to go. What he didn't expect was for this sexy man to want him again and again. And he definitely didn't expect to see him with a woman...
Jason and Abe's relationship does turn into more but Jason keeps his kids relationship separate. He doesn't know how his kids would feel about him being with another man, they know he is gay but it's different to see him with someone else. And Jason also doesn't know how Abe feels about being a part of the relationship with them. This is all new to them both. Will Jason let Abe be part of his children's lives? Will Jason believe that he could have his happily ever after with a man?
I loved Jason and Abe's story! Abe is shy where Jason is arrogant and blunt. But Jason can sense that Abe has a naughty side or he wouldn't have gone home with him that first night. And boy was Jason right, Abe is naughty and just as horny as his partner. They are seriously hot but not only that, they are funny and supportive. They each help one another open up in different ways and it's beautiful.
Overall...it's filthy, funny and sweet.
Abe was sexy as hell and sweet as sin, all at the same time.
“You have the best smile, and your laugh…” Jason swallowed hard and shook his head. “You should never be sad.” He kissed Abe tenderly. “Not ever.”
“Is there anything you can’t turn into a sexual innuendo?”
"Is there anything you can say that isn’t a sexual innuendo?”
“Apparently not,” Abe conceded.
