Audiobook: Terrific narrator
Heart surgeon, Jason is arrogant and short tempered. Jason was raised in a close knit family and believes his dreams of the all american family died with his divorce. Since his familial dreams are up in smoke he is only looking for a hook-up, never seeing the same person twice.
Abe is a school teacher, sweet and looking for Mr. Forever, not Mr. One Night. He hasn't been with anyone in three years because he can't be see being with someone when he can't see forever.
Jason sees Abe at a bar and propositions him. Abe, drawn to Jason agrees to one night as a birthday present to himself. After that night Jason can't get Abe out of his mind and uncharacteristically seeks him out again.
Jason has managed to compartmentalize is life to keep his kids and his sex life separate. Now if he wants Abe to be a part of his life he needs to find a balance between the two.
I love how strong and sweet Abe it. He's nice without letting Jason walk all over him. The relationship Abe and Jason have with Jason's ex-wife adds a sweet and funny element to the story. I really enjoyed this one.
I really liked this book despite the fact that it had two things that I usually dislike. First there was way too much bedroom action. I found myself skimming a lot. Still it was part of the dynamic of the two MCs, so it fit the context of the story. Next, I really didn’t like Jason much in the beginning. He became more likeable as the story progressed and I warmed up to him more by the end. I did like Abe. I thought him a great character and he made the story for me.
What I did like was the fact that there was no big misunderstanding that is prevalent in many of these types of stories. Despite the fact that Jason was not the type to delve into feelings too much, the two MCs actually managed to talk things out quite often. I liked the relationship that Jason had with his ex-wife. I was pleased that the author didn’t make her out to be this evil character whose only purpose was to make Jason’s life miserable.
So, despite its flaws, this turned out to be a really good book. While a couple was briefly mentioned from another book in the Family Collection, this can be read as a stand-alone story.
Jason, a 36-year-old surgeon, is looking for a one-off to help him forget his bad day. He walks into a bar and immediately hears 26-year-old math teacher Abe laugh and is instantly drawn to him. Even though Abe never does one night stands he decides there’s something about Jason and takes him home for a night of explosively hot sex. A couple of months later Jason goes to another bar for a hook-up and hears Abe laugh and, again, he’s immediately drawn again to Abe.
I absolutely love that Jason and Abe's relationship develops naturally over time and how perfectly Robison narrates every stage of their relationship. Not to mention how fantastically hot he makes the sex scenes.
Stories like this are why Cardeno is my crack. I cannot get enough!
Ezekiel Robison blew me out of the water. HE IS AWESOME. Robison takes all of the awesome hot dirty talk and the smoking' hot sexy times and turns it all up to eleven!
Whether in print or audio this book is fantastic, but if you can - also get it in audio. It immediately went on my favorites shelf and into my re-listen rotation.
Bottom Line: Lightly sprinkled with just a soupçon of angst this story has it all: humor, romance, amazing characters, character growth, and then you also get hot sex and dirty talk!
Jason, a man who had been married and has fathered two children, is into men too. Or rather mainly into men. His everyday life is that of a average doctor - long working days and always running behind schedule. It is in itself a killer of good family relationships. Fortunately his ex-wife and he are still on friendly terms. Jason seeks out one-night-stands when the itch gets too strong. On his way home one late night he stops in a bar to find a man and an attractive laugh catches his ear.
Abe is not one of his usual hook-ups, although he pretends to be, because he sees Jason as the player he is. But there is something alluring with this math teacher, something that makes Jason stage a "chance-meeting" in the coffe shop Abe had mentioned.
From there they slowly merge into a couple and later into a happy family - not quite a conventional, but still a family.
This story is softly running, relationship is gradually developing, in the same way as Abe moves in with Jason. Jason does not even realize that Abe has actually been living with him for a while. There is no angst, no problems except an asthma attack and some teenage problems.
Top international reviews
Absolutely loved Abe! The master of doing and getting what you want without the other realising!
I loved the story development. Jason going from a single one and done kind of guy to realising he can have more with the same person.
And the sweet and innocent Abe who turn out to be a fire cracker in the bedroom!
Chemistry between the two of them built and built until it exploded and it was hot.
I loved how they all grew together and it was just a fantastic story
I was hoping for some angsty moments between the two MCs, encountering real hurdles in their relationship, something that would threaten them being together, or would one want to leave. Instead we got the MCs dealing with family matters and an asthma attack that got sorted in no time.
Don't get me wrong - this is a nice enough book, but I could have done with a more involved plot.
Jason is such a great character, it is a shame the author didn't have more in store for him. I also thought that their sex scenes weren't described with enough feeling or imagination to get me really involved - as hot as the ideas were.
All in all an okay book, if you want something fluffy and light. But at no time did the story make my heart ache, and get me really involved.
Jason keeps telling himself just one more night and he'll be able to wipe his mind of Abe but it's not working. Meet 2 men on the opposite ends of the slut spectrum and how they make a relationship work.
