I should have known better. Half Sac made me fall in love with Thia's books all over again. She is so amazing, she even included the band and Crew from Hayden's Timbre in the book.. SWOON!!!!!
Blue, as a junior, plays football at TAU. He is a super jock. But boy does he have some issues in the bedroom thanks to an injury years ago. He only does certain girls, and never sweet. It has never been a problem until Noelle. She is the sweet cheerleader. She is adorable. She is sweet. She is who Blue wants but can't have thanks to his issues.
Noelle wants Blue. Even as he hurts her time and time again, she still wants him. When she is told to stay away, she wants him more. Friends just won't cut it but will the struggle to be something more be worth it. Can they do what is necessary? Can they be stronger than the issues/people trying to stop them?
When the unthinkable happens, can Noelle stand by her friend and lover? Will she run? Will love conquer all?
What's not to love? Finn gave me layered characters that seemed so real, I felt like I could find them in my college yearbook. She gave me a story unlike any other I've read in contemporary romance, and she did it without being preachy or heavy-handed. She gave me chuckles and snickers, sighs and swoons, outrage and encouragement.
This book is different but I am a fan of different and crave more of it.
While he's not particularly ashamed of his uniqueness, as an up and coming college football player, one who isn't remotely interested in settling down and finding anything at all close to a meaningful relationship, and one who is all too familiar with how those girls that seek out one night stands like to share their exploits, he just chooses to keep certain things 'in the dark'. Literally.
Noelle Jeffries isn't just any other girl though. Even though he never suspects that she'll be onside for his particular kind of kink, when their respective best friends become joined at the hip they keep winding up in each other's orbit, and keep gravitating towards each other.
I loved the intricate dance that Thia Finn had her main characters moving through as they navigated the obstacles and elephants in the room. All the while college life was continuing all around them, complete with interminable practices, game days, frat parties and one crazy, coed, cheerleader control freak who attempts to manipulate everyone and everything to fit her own design.
It was fun, it was dramatic, it was sexy and it was sweet ... and I loved it.
