Natasha Biron knows this is her last chance. Losing this Election means losing the war - and her life. Officer Aaren Jemmer diligently works to lockdown Haline and ensure Natasha's failure, another special assignment he'll use to keep his secret safe. Archives employee Joaquin Deva is wrapping-up at the office before a holiday with his girlfriend - until an unexpected discovery drives him to abandon everything in his near-perfect life to find the one person who can help him: Natasha Biron.
Over the next four days their paths collide, shattering their realities as they each discover the lies they've been living and the unthinkable truth they share.
HALINE is a stark look at a post-climate change future, a world licking its wounds after decades of war and famine in which resources are scarce and government tyrannical. It is the answer to the troubling and timely question: What if we do nothing?

PRAISE FOR HALINE:
“HALINE is a mesmerizing story of a fallen world in which the characters struggle to cope with life after an environmental cataclysm." — Kabir Sehgal, New York Times best-selling author
"Incredibly engaging and a total page turner. I haven't been that engaged by a book since Harry Potter or Twilight!" — Lauren Weinstein
"I finished HALINE in less than 24 hours - it was one of the most original and enjoyable books I've read." — Tyler Willis, Entrepreneur
"For fans of The Wind-Up Girl and The Handmaid's Tale a cautionary story of a not too distant dystopian future, it serves as a hard slap across the face to wake from our collective apathy." – @thesubjective

I would say that the greatest quality of the novel, is the fact that, it is a TOTAL page-turner. It's very action-packed! I had to read the entire book in one sitting. After reading the first two chapters, I was completely hooked. It's a perfect book for someone who likes dystopian books like Fahrenheit 451, 1984 or Animal House. It's also great for anyone who loved The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Ender's Game. Also great for people who like to read sci-fi... I'm talking about people who enjoyed Margaret Atwood or Hugh Howey. It's a great books for adults to read. It's also perfect for teens and young adults. If you're a parent who wants your children to learn more about the environment, this is a wonderful book to ease them into an exciting story that will make them want to read more.
I highly recommend this book. It's a MUST read!
The narrative is captivating and it's easy to read!
Maybe it's just me, but I'm not a fan of the "Super Science Fiction" where there are superfluous insertions of technology just for the sake of technology with the intent of "wow-ing" the reader; so I especially appreciated that here. As a book about the future, there were certainly comments about transportation, communication technology but not in the techno-obsessed manner of some authors--especially first-time authors.
Overall, loved it and looking forward to the next one.
Can't wait for the sequel to come out!
You've have seen some of the themes before in Mieville, in the Hunger Games trilogy, in Paolo Bacigalupi, in the Silo series. But they mix well here to create a construct that's unique, and the author fills it with characters that you're just getting to know (and want to know more) by the finish.
I enjoyed the subtle message that makes you think about a future that could happen after climate change. I'm hoping future books in this series will delve deeper into this theme, even just the subtle hints about it were super interesting.
If you like sci-fi even a little bit, read Haline - you'll enjoy it.
