For those who are fans of Leonard Cohen in general, & Hallelujah in particular - this is an extremely nice instrumental - Electric Blues Guitar version of the song, & is well worth having.

In fact, we agree - it is probably our 3rd favorite version, overall, of the classic song - & our #1 Favorite instrumental version:

Hallelujah:

1) John Cale
2) Jeff Buckley
3) Ricky Z.

All the above are exceptional renditions of the song.

Ricky Z's version is excellent, especially for those who enjoy electric Blues Guitar.

This music was free at the time I downloaded. I used this and other songs to make a Holiday music cd to play in my car. Decent quality music from mostly unknown artists. It makes a nice festive assortment of music to play around the Christmas Holidays, and it's a little different from what you usually hear.

This Leonard Cohen song is so much more, it seems blasphemous to even call it a song. The notes are recognized by everyone, appear and are heard at the most poignant moments in our lives. See a US Armed Forces pall bears carry a flag draped casket and the notes will slowly rise into the air and your awareness. Everyone should hear this piece of music and by many interpreters; Ricky Z gives it his take on this Cohen masterpiece and it is so good, you'll then go in search oh Rufus Wainwright's Hallelujah and even Leonard Cohen's own version.

Again, used this for a Firefighter video background music to the photo's of live scenes the non-profit community based organization for the community to see first hand what they did to protect and save lives and property. No video was sold, just used as PR.

I love this song and the way the artist sang it. So many times, artists will try to "make it there own" and totally destroy a song. This was done the way it was written, so pretty, so touching.

If you're tired of the standard covers of this Leonard Cohen song, check this one out. It's got a little bit of blues in it, a touch of country twang, and while Ricky Z's voice could be stronger, it's obvious he's not just singing this one by rote.

The title says it all. The song was free, so you can't really ask (or expect) too much...and that is what you get with this version of the song. I love the song but, this version, is barely acceptable. If you are willing to spend a bit, I would suggest getting the original version.

This is one of my favorite songs, but anyone taking on the task of covering it is going to have a rough time. I believe the previous reviewer meant Jeff Buckley's version, which is my favorite, not Jeff Beck's. Though if Jeff Beck did a cover I'd be interested in that too. Rufus Wainwright does a pretty good and well-known version (it was in Shrek). Of course there's the original Leonard Cohen version which has a certain charm, but personally I can't deal with his voice often. Ricky Z does a pretty decent job and I enjoyed listening to it, but he can't compare with the masters of this song.
