Surprising revelations continuously punctuate the second book of the Unearthly series, which circles around Clara’s vision of a funeral. The part-angel Wyoming high school student is still torn between Tucker, a bronco-busting human, and the otherworldly Christian, but Hand has more in mind than just paranormal romance. The exploration of angelic hierarchies fascinates as does the tension built around concepts of free will and divine purpose. Can Clara literally stop an ordained death? Plot points skillfully set up the next book’s action, which should be eagerly anticipated by fans. Grades 7-10. --Karen Cruze --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.
Enchanting and exciting, romantic and believable-I wasn’t able to tear myself away! (Melissa Marr, author of the New York Times bestselling Wicked Lovely series)
Hand has crafted a captivating paranormal romance that will have readers eagerly awaiting the next book in the series. (Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA))

In this installment we get bits and pieces of the significance of Clara's purpose while also discovering more about her kind. This book just so happened to be a tear jerker for me which was so unexpected. I had no idea how wrapped up I was with these characters and their lives. Cynthia Hand out did herself in this installment. I can't get enough of these characters!
Some things unfolded as I expected and some not so much. Let's just say I was particularly surprised with some of the revealed secrets throughout this book. The ending of this book wrapped things up nicely but leaves readers excited about what's to come in the next chapter in this series. I can't wait to delve back into their world!
Clara is in her senior year now. She should be worrying about what she’s going to wear to prom and about graduation, but that the very last thing on her mind. She now understands what her new purpose is and will do anything to keep it from happening.
We are confronted with a character we’d never thought we’d see again.
She’s battling her feelings for Tucker and Christian. She loves Tucker very, very much but she can’t hide her feelings for Christian.
This book was so much more fantastic than Unearthly! I can’t get over how much I really enjoyed this book. I’m a little nervous to read Boundless after what happened in the end. I promise I won’t spoil anything. :) But, I did order the book and when it comes, I will be reading it ASAP.
I adore every single character in this trilogy. I love each character for a different reason. I’ll go over a couple. :)
I love Clara because she’s SO strong despite what’s going on throughout Hallowed! She holds her head up and continues on without just stopping and completely giving up on herself! She’s not like normal YA characters in a love triangle. She is fighting her feelings for Christian– which I’m Team Tucker BTW–.
I love Tucker because he’s Tucker. I don’t need anymore explanation. I LOVE Tucker so so much. I love the whole southern country boy thing. I love how he’s a COMPLETE sweetheart and a ladies man! I. JUST. LOVE. TUCKER!
I love Angela and Wendy because they are such great friends to Clara. Angela is there for Clara more because she knows exactly what Clara is going through,–SPOILER FROM UNEARTHLY– because she’s an angel also. — Not a spoiler if you’ve read Unearthly–.
I love Christian because he’s waiting for Clara! He broke up with Kay to be with Clara! I’m still Team Tucker, but I do love Christian… Just not as much as Tucker. ;) He’s so sweet and has always been there for her, no matter what. That’s what I love about him.
I’m so beyond excited to pick up Boundless and I don’t want to have to wait until Monday– possibly Tuesday– to read it. But I guess I don’t have a choice.
On the good side, it was not as predictable as the first one and was better written. It grabs a bit more of your attention. It is also light reading.
On the bad side, it's a little shallow (on my opinion) and it has the exact same structure as the first one, so you don't find space for surprises. You know what's going to happen from the very beginning.
If you read Unearthly, then read this one. If not... well, It's not at the top of my list, but still good for some easy reading.
