The first one in the series of (so far?) seven »Halloween« movies probably was a superbly scary thriller-horror movie in 1978 - but for today's public, it rather appears as a comedy.
There is barely any blood in it, and Michael Myers is easy to knock down (even though he doesn't die, of course...) by a young Jamie Lee Curtis who, by the way, look like herself, she only had longer hair and a smaller behind back then.
The real surprise in fact comes in the beginning of the movie where we see who Michael Myers really is!

Halloween made me the horror movie fan that I am today. Spawning six sequels, this movie started a whole new generation on true horror movies. Jamie Lee Curtis began her career with this movie. Veteran actor Donald Pleasence was only on the set for a week to create the most memorable character in horror movie history, Dr. Sam Loomis. Nick Castle played "The Shape" Michael Myers and wound up as the director of movies such as Major Payne and Dennis the Menace. Halloween was obviously too brilliant to stop at just one release. It not only created careers for some of its stars but it still sends chills down spines of millions as it will never ever be forgotten.

A wonderful film About a young girl [Jamie Lee Curtis] who is stalked by a masked serial killer. Jamie gives and oscar winning performance and Donald Pleasence displays a terrificly well acted Character playing the curious obsesive docter [Dr. Loomis] This is one of the most succesful low budget films of all time.
