H2018: Michael goes after Lori again only because dr. Sartain brought him to her out of curiosity? Thats evil, who would bring a serial killer to the person that survived him and you get to see an also battle Michael vs Lori
Hkills: in kills Michael escapes and goes on an awesome killing spree but it has a bad story its basically a bridge film to get to ends but it shows us the evil of the town there was a second person that escaped from Smiths grove and hes scared and doesn't know what to do Loris daughter protects him from the town, the town wants to kill him because they think hes myers they don't talk to him they just try to kill him, EVIL
H ends: theres not alot of Michael so don't get your hopes up but that doesn't mean its a bad movie if you seen christine youll like this movie alot more i do i love corey he get consumed by evil and its nice to see its different from every other movie its like the 3rd Halloween movie but it does have a nice battle Michael vs Lori again also a batman and robin thing that i absolutely love its so nice to see something different and i wish we got more of it, if you want to see Michael alot watch kills you want a Halloween movie to watch, watch 2018, you have a nice different movie to watch, watch Halloween ends
Halloween Kills was absolutely fantastic. My personal favorite of the series. It has the most to offer long-time fans of the franchise due to its mind-blowing flashback opening sequence that takes us back to the original 1978 Halloween night and features Dr. Loomis. It's truly a blast to watch our man go on an absolute tear! It definitely feels more like an installment than a standalone film though. So it's understandable why this film was somewhat divisive upon release. But, I absolutely love it and this is THE FILM that will continue to get the primetime spot on my Halloween night movie marathon.
[This movie also has two cuts. I would suggest watching the theatrical cut because I think it's better. The extended cut is too long and it completely loses its momentum. It also shows too much in my opinion. I would however just put the extended cut's ending on after you watch the theatrical cut though because it's great and doesn't feel as choppy as the theatrical cut.]
Halloween Ends unfortunately is an absolute disaster. It’s a film that is so bad that it seriously undermines the trilogy as a whole. It’s a terrible Halloween movie, a terrible final chapter to the trilogy and a terrible final film for the Laurie Strode Saga. I wish I could unsee this film. I don’t think I have ever been more disappointed in my entire life.
Halloween Ends has so many issues that I can actually organize them all inside gigantic categories. First, Halloween Ends just doesn’t feel like a Halloween movie whatsoever. It feels more like a Stephen King adaptation pretending to be a John Carpenter movie. Which makes sense because this film was largely based off the story of Stephen King's Christine novel and John Carpenter made that into his own movie... which David Gordon Green tried to copy here and make his own and then sprinkle Michael Myers on top? It just doesn't work. It’s bizarre how many elements of this movie just don’t work. It was like the team here was trying to bake a cake and they spent like 90% of their time on the frosting and then completely forgot to bake the cake.
Perhaps most significantly, the movie barely features Michael Myers. And when he is on screen he doesn’t act like Michael. It’s brutal to watch. And yet Michael is the reason why people buy tickets to see these movies. It was like going to see Daniel Craig's final James Bond movie and then discovering that James Bond only shows up at the end after missing in action for 90% of the film. Also, apparently James Bond now lacks everything about him that makes him James Bond. It certainly does not help whatsoever that the marketing for the movie focused almost exclusively on the threat of Michael Myers. Most of the scenes featured in the marketing and trailers aren’t even in the movie. So the movie ends up being a blatant bait-and-switch. This movie feels more like a scam than anything else.
Watching Halloween Ends was like going to a steakhouse, ordering a steak, and being delivered a salad to eat instead. And then when I complained about it, I was told that the chef wanted to "subvert my expectations" and I just "didn't get it". So, I end up just going home hungry. It's a shame that this team of filmmakers decided to allow their egos get in the way of completing a fantastic trilogy.
Moreover, switching the movie’s focus over to a completely new main character probably wasn’t the best idea. Especially because every single plot point and character arc that was established in the first two movies got completely abandoned in order to do it. For instance, what was the point on focusing so much time on developing Sheriff Hawkins’ backstory if we weren’t ever going to get an answer to any of it?
Whether it’s because of the films portrayal (or lack thereof) of Michael Myers, the fact that the film doesn’t feel like a Halloween movie, the film’s choice to prioritize a new character’s story and abandon everyone else in the process, the movie’s blatant false-advertising, or just the fact that it is so fundamentally uninteresting, Halloween Ends might just be the most disappointing film I’ve ever seen in my life.
Accordingly, despite Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills being fantastic, I would not purchase this trilogy until Blumhouse produces a new cut of Halloween Ends that is perhaps more like the novelization.
