I bought one last spring and it came in a big box, it was mostly pre-assembled. As others have noted I did have about a 1/2" sag that is annoying and I am still trying to fix. But I'm just living with it.
I needed another dual monitor setup; liking the build quality of the first, I figured it was just a defect and decided to grab another to test it out. This time I got a little box. Everything needed assembly and the parts were smaller and weaker.
I would really recommend against buying this. The original was beefy and well made, but had quality control issues, the new version is much lighter and requires a day's worth of assembly just to see if you get one that sags or not.
Easy to Assemble
Fits two 27" monitors
Very Sturdy (Mounted two 27" monitors with no help, check the third photo for how I did it.)
Padding on the underside of mount (Used a piece of cardboard for the bottom clamps)
Threads on arm bracket stripped off (Fixed it with a trip to hardware store. I bought a 2 inch Allen socket bolt and a stop nut. Does the same job, and probably stronger)
No way to tighten rotation movement
The one I purchased in July is great. It is the same as the one in the pictures. It is strong, high quality, and robust. I couldn’t be happier with it.
HOWEVER, the one I purchased in December is terrible. It came in a much smaller box, many of the pieces are made from flimsy plastic, and it is much more difficult to assemble. The seller obviously made many cost saving decisions that directly impacted the quality of this product. They haven’t updated the pictures in the listing either.
When I contacted the seller they dismissed my concerns and will take no action to update the Amazon listing. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
I've installed six of these so far and will probably do a few more in the next couple months. They have all been fantastic. The quality is great. They're very sturdy and look nice. Everything lined up and went together perfectly. They come with all kinds of extra nuts and bolts and spacers and stuff.
If you can use the clamp to mount it to the desks they take about 15 minutes to install. We've had a few desks that have solid backs and I've just drilled through the desk and used bolts to mount them to the desk. They work great either way.
The only problem I've had is installing them in a corner against a wall, like in a cubicle. With two 24" monitors it gets a little tight with how you can adjust them because the arms press up against the wall. I attached some pictures of how I have them setup and the clearance you get. It definitely works but if you want to move the monitors around and have 24" monitors I might look for a version designed to hold bigger monitors to give yourself a little space.
I'm using it with a matched pair of Viewsonic 22" HD monitors.
The part that slides up and down the central mounting pole was the hardest part to put together and for some reason the right monitor is about 1/2" higher than the left monitor. I tried every adjustment, it seems that the whole assembly that attaches to the center pole is just off a little bit, leans to the left slightly.
Overall this was fairly easy to assemble, I only briefly referred to the instructions, otherwise everything was straight-forward and obvious.
Bottom line, it mounted a pair of monitors over a 40-channel mixing board in my recording studio. This stand put the monitors exactly where I needed them to be (low over the mixing desk), there was no way to get them there otherwise because they would be blocking the sight lines to my monitor speakers.
It is a heavy duty stand, I have no doubts about it holding my monitors up. It maintains its positional settings. It clamps to my desk very securely.
I dinged it one star because some of the cable clamp parts were broken right out of the box and because of the inability to get both monitors at exactly the same height. I used cable ties instead of the broken cable clamps.
The only reason it has three stars instead of five is because the bracket that attaches to the monitor wiggles quite a bit once installed onto the arms. The monitors can shift quite a bit as a result of this.
