Automatic Safety Features Protect From Damage And Overheating
Concerned about the kettle discoloring from boiling dry? No worries, this electric kettle is equipped with safety devices to give you ease and peace of mind during and after use. More than Tea
Start the day with a bowl of instant oatmeal or prepare a hot cup of soup for lunch. A mug of hot cocoa is perfect on a cold winter day; save time by quickly boiling one pot of water instead of microwaving several mugs. Interested in the new trend of pour over coffee? Pour over coffee brewing involves putting a coffee filter into a glass or ceramic cone, adding your favorite ground coffee, and then pouring boiled water through the grounds for the freshest extraction possible.
A wide opening makes cleaning the kettle much easier. Allow the kettle to cool before cleaning. Make sure the electric kettle is off and unplugged before cleaning it. For optimum performance, clean the removable mesh filter every time. Do not use abrasive scouring pads or cleaners, since this may damage the stainless steel surface. Instead, rinse the filter periodically under running water and gently brush with a clean toothbrush.
Tips and Care
Before use, fill kettle with selected amount of water with mesh filter in place, and ensure that water level is between 0.5 L and max on the water level window and on level surface before serving. Overfilling the kettle may cause boiling water to spit out of the spout. Do not use for any purpose other than heating water, as other liquids or food will contaminate the interior and void the warranty. Note: Use care when handling the kettle to avoid spilled hot liquid, scalding, or burns.

I never timed the Breville (1500W) but ran tests with this one:
0.5L room temperature (71F) full boil in 1’50”
1.0L room temperature (70F) full boil in 3’40”
1.7L room temperature (72F) full boil in 6’25”
The base is solid with both stainless and plastic material. Much better than pots with an all plastic base (I have a backup one that is plastic). The other nice thing is it holds the boil about 5 seconds after removing it from the base. Some pots stop boiling when lifted from the base.
The pot gets hot on the outside but not enough to immediately burn a hand. Your flinch should prevent a burn. I liken it to cooking. I’m not going to touch a hot pan except by the handle :) The bottom is sufficiently insulated to set it on a counter filled with hot water.
It is stainless on the inside but there are plastic parts for the fill window and spout filter. I ditched the filter because it is one more thing to clean for a lazy person like me. I thought maybe the filter would smooth the pouring but found no difference with or without. One worry is the plastic fill windows inserted into the sides. Not sure how long they will last but only time will tell.
Could not detect any odors from the manufacturing process.
Two negatives. The mouth is smaller than the Breville requiring more accuracy when filling. This seems nitpicky but remember, I’m in a hurry in the morning and have not had any coffee. The second came from my wife. She does not like the red showing between the pot and base (and she says I’m picky).
I’m giving it five stars based upon comparison to others, price, and reading kettle reviews for an hour.
Four stars because:
The first lasted one about five and a half years, before it started not always switching itself off. However, there was a glitch with the kettle's base almost from the start - you had to place the kettle in a certain position (rotated just right) for it to switch on. I decided to just live with that issue. The first one I bought was branded "Mellita", but as many other reviewers have noted, is literally, exactly the same product.
